The bottom of my boat is painted with Abaltive Copolymer paint. The kind that will rub off on your hand. Anyway, I'm at the point that it needs to be completely repainted, and the marina soaked me last time, so I'm going to try it myself this time. I know that the surface has to be sanded....I'm wondering if this is basically just to "scuff" it or does it really need to be taken down? Anyone have tips on this? Thanks.

Original deal fell through, so I have 4 remaining Daiwa Heartland rigger rods. 8'6", medium, brand new in November 2006, never used. Got a deal on some other rods I couldn't pass. Asking $20 each. Also, 1 Okuma Magda Pro 30LC, new in 2005, very little use. $30. John

If the 2 mentioned are full, you could try Wiley's Marina 585-682-4552 Its a bit farther up the creek, but she might have space. John

Sluggo: Ameracan dates are the same weekend as last year....July 14/15. Con club is Aug 3-5....limited to 100 boats and they anticipate a full field. The 1 piece 7' feels pretty good, and I'm leaning towards it. Have 8' that I run leadcore on off the boards and its about the same action. Just not sure about the shorter rod...... John

Just wondering what you guys prefer for the lengths of your planer board rods. Have a chance to make a switch, and just trying to decide if I should go with a 1 piece 7 footer...? Thanks. John

Will be at the Conservation Club, foot of North Mullet Street West end of Dunkirk Harbor. Turn by the Country Fair store. If you have any questions, I guess you could run them through me. No set format or anything like that. Last year we had about 10-12 guys set up tables.

Thanks guys. I got the replacement flaps last year at a marine store and they were too stiff to work correctly. I know the ones with the balls, and have been thinking about that. I have 1 pump in the aft and another midships, so a 3rd would be just for emergency. I think I'm really leaning towards blocking it, and the sheet metal would probably be the best bet....something like a piece of tin? Alumimun siding? John

My boat has scuppers, just above the waterline. When I get several big guys in the back, the flaps don't close tight enough to make a complete seal, so I get some water coming in. Also, had the rear bilge fail last year and once the rainwater filled that up enough to weigh the boat down, water came in as well. Darn near had a major problem. Anyway, I thinking of blocking the scuppers and going with a second rear bilge. Looking for a thin material to replace the flaps with that would seal, and also stand up to sun and water. Any ideas? Teams may enter 1 walleye per member per day. Each fish counts for the individual weight by the angler, and the total for the team carries each day. End payout is for top 20 by weight, and there also is a team prize structure. Year 1 was about 30 boats, Year 2 was 72 boats or so. They are anticipating a full field this year. For information, contact Jules Thurn at 716-363-0345 or the club at 716-366-8836.
