I like to troll into the first week of december most years. I am thinking of adding one since this is my first I/O and I plan on keeping the boat slipped. Does anyone have any experience with them? Brand? Size? Thanks!
The IRS Office suspected a fishing boat owner wasn't paying proper wages to his deckhand and sent an agent to investigate him.
IRS Auditor: "I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them."
Boat Owner: " Well, there's Clarence, my deckhand, he's been with me for 3 years. I pay him $1,000 a week plus free room and board.
Then there's the mentally challenged guy... He works about 18 hours every day and does about 90% of the work around here.
He makes about $10 per week, pays his own room and board, and I buy him a bottle of Bundaberg Rum and a dozen Crown Lagers every Saturday night so he can cope with life... He also gets to sleep with my wife occasionally."
IRS Auditor: "That's the guy I want to talk to - the mentally challenged one."
Boat Owner: "That'll be me. What'd you want to know"?
2 lightly used, like new Talora rods that have never had wireline through them, just copper. I really don't use them. 250$ or a fair trade. Mexico pick up.
I say congrats to 5 More Minutes, you can obviously fish your ass off. That being sad I do see a need for some changes. I definitely lean towards the if you don't think you can beat them, then don't enter mentality. I don't believe forcing a team to go pro because they are very successful is the right answer either. I personally am lucky due to work my schedule to fish3-4 days a month on a weekend day and that's even if she isn't blowing. I became a licensed charter captain 5+ years ago but I don't run a charter business or have even chartered anyone. I got the license so that I am a better boater as well as maybe someday in my retirement years be able to do some trips. Because of this I wasn't able to enter the amateur for either the Oswego or Sodus pro -ams and it isn't realistic to think that I could jump in the pro division and be competitive. Hell , I'd be fortunate to have a decent showing in the AM. I would however gladly have joined both of thee events due to the lower entry fee and less of a donation to the pros.
My solution is as follows. Get rid of all qualifications for whether a team is pro or amateur. If your team wants to be more competitive and prestigious and have a chance at bigger bucks, then enter the pro. If big money isn't your goal and being known as one of the best on the lake ( which I believe would come with competing in the pro div) then enter AM. I think this would diminish all the bashing, ****in' , complaining. If you wanna be known as one of best, and make some good coin then cowboy up and go for it. If you wanna take a smaller risk and are content with being amateur then do that. I see Troubles concerns but I can do nothing but congratulate 5MM for going out and staying within the rules and kicking butt.
Wire to the dipsy, a leader from the dipsy to the FF. Leader length is often determined by the length of your boat and how far you can bring the rod up to be able to net the fish. Typically 5-8 ft
Went five for five by 8 am , fished until 930. Two 500 copper dish with double crush spinny and Big Weenie shark week fly. A 400 copper fish on a uv plaid green stripe pro troll with a pole dancer. A 190 dipsy with a green dot spinny and hammer fly and a 90 rigger with a gator spinny and mirage. Didn't mark a lot of fish and very lil Bait. Fleas are not bad, a few. Biting flies had their fill. Got off the water before it got brutal. No kings over 20#
