First time out on the river. I lost a big one at the boat.

We'll be fishing out of Barcelona Harbor. We normally run west to the PA line and troll our way back. With the wind usually coming out of the west.. this makes for an easier troll, plus an easier run back if she happens to blow up on us! I heard that it's really picked up lately.. hope my info is correct. Good Fishing, Sluggo (Chris)

I've finally got a free weekend coming so we're heading out after work Friday to fish Sat. and Sun. It's been way too long and I'm really looking forward to it! I'll post my results.. with pictures..I hope! Good Fishing, Sluggo (Chris)

l still don't think there are any walleye in that lake!

Bob.. I totally agree.. very poor weather for fishing. Actually.. the main reason for the trip up was to make sure my buddy's boat runs right after some major warranty work. Good news.. bad news day. Boat worked great.. fishing sucked. Greg.. Hoping to get up before the end of the month. I'll let you know when I finally make plans.. Good Fishing, Sluggo (Chris)

Regardless of what Justin says.. there are no fish in that lake! We trolled for about 8 hours today and came up with one 12 inch brown. Anyway.. it was a gorgeous day on the water..even though we were humbled. And Justin.. good to finally meet up with you. We'll be back to figure that pond out! Good Fishing, Sluggo (Chris)

You guys are breaking my heart! I'm in Richmond, VA.. en route to Myrtle Beach with my brother-in-law and his wife who live on the point across from Mud Bay. Can you guess where us guys would rather be? Good Luck.. and leave us a few. Good Fishing, Sluggo (Chris)

I also remove the front hooks on most of my trolling sticks. The bigger Rapalas (F-18's) don't seem to be effected.. I don't run the small ones so I don't know about them. The Renosky's also get new rear hooks. I love the lures.. but hate the factory hooks! Good Fishing, Sluggo (Chris)

I gotta get me one of them fishin' poles with the cord coming off the handle! Those look like the cat's meow! Good Fishing, Sluggo (Chris) ps.. neat video!

I usually hit the Susky on opener, but don't normally do as well on the post spawners as the pre spawners. But.. my wife made plans with her sister to go to Myrtle Beach that weekend so it looks like I'll be golfing instead of fishing. I'll probably tuck the little boat away and get the big one out of storage in the next few weeks so it'll be ready to go follow Justin around on Otisco when I can get out! Shade.. Welcome to the eastern basin! All of your Ontario gear will work fine there, but if you're a salmon troller you'll have to force yourself to slow down. I usually run my harnesses and stickbaits between 1.2 to 2.0.. very seldom faster. My baits are 8 feet behind my dipsies.. but if you run slide divers you can go further. I've tried really long leads off the downriggers, but they just don't seem to produce as well as dipsies or boards with leadcore or weights. I think walleyes are just ball-shy. Anyway.. feel free to PM me if you have questions about launches or places to stay. Good Fishing, Sluggo (Chris)

I have the same unit and had the same problem. Used it for a season that way.. then it started binding to the point it took two hands to turn. Raymarine sent a new drive unit... no problem. Good Fishing, Sluggo (Chris)

Nice job Justin! I happen to catch the Bassmaster Classic episode and figured these were like the "Banjo" minnow or some other gimmick.. but may have to take another look. Guess I'm an old believer that most new lures are more designed to catch fishermen than fish. Good Fishing, Sluggo (Chris)

Don't know if any of you guys ever check out Overstock Bait&Tackle online.. but I've gotten some great deals there. Lots of low end and mediocre stuff, but sometimes the good stuff. We run the big Renoski stickbaits on Erie.. last year I bought two dozen for 1.50 each. Worth a look once in a while. Good Fishing, Sluggo (Chris)

Most of my big water level-winds are spooled with 30# Powerpro with a six foot leader of 15# Seaguar floro leader material connected with a quality ball-bearing swivel. I end it with a cross-lock snap. I tie all my harnesses 24" long so we can get the fish in netting range. Once in a while a dipsy gets put on the wrong rig.. makes it exciting with a big walleye stuck 15' behind the boat. I have a few outfits spooled with 20# Flea-flicker for summer flea season on Ontario. Fortunately we don't have a problem with them on Erie... yet. Good Fishing, Sluggo (Chris)
