Awesome buck!!!!!!! Congrats

I hunted over a cut corn field last night that had 5 does feeding in it. Two different bucks came out but they seemed more interested in eating than chasing the ladies. [ Post made via iPhone ]

Awesome!!!! Congrats Cam and Dad. Great memories for both of you. -
Great story!!! I agree with Ray. Your Dad should read this. It would mean more to him than the awesome buck.

Very nice bucks Ray!!! -
I figured I would post this as it happened a few miles from my house. One of the shooters is a local deer processer and a good guy. These same animals escaped last hunting season and a friend of mine saw them while deer hunting. He said he was very tempted but didn't shoot. Ok- what would you do if you are in your stand and a BIG bull elk comes trotting up? http://blog.syracuse.com/outdoors/2011/12/deer_hunters_mistakenly_shoot.html These guys may end up getting a ticket because their excuse was "I thought is was a deer". Therefore the DEC can give them a ticket for not properly identifing their target. Now if they said "I saw an elk so I shot it" they wouldnt be in any trouble because Elk are not a protected species in New York therefore have no regulations. (IE- wild boar).

On the farm i ususally hunt we haven't seen any this year which is unusual. The past 8-10 years we would kill at least one every year and some years 3-4. The past few years the landowner has let a trapper in and that really seems to be helping. I've seen them in his sets and always see the "rings" where he caught them. As the coyote sightings started to go down we have had better luck with the deer.

LOL- Nice bucks!!!! I wish I could do that well in my bad years. ps- I agree though- weather has been too warm for consistent movement.

I've been reading all of the success story's on here and love seeing the pics of all the awesome deer. Reading them always gives me that little extra nudge to get out when I get the lazies or when I am not seeing any deer. I only got out once during bow due to work but have been getting out during shotgun. Tuesday I had an appt at 8 am but had the rest of the day open. I got out for the first time this year with my son. We have both been out on our own several times but our schedules haven't matched up where we could hunt together until Tue. We got in our stands around 10:00 and the plan was to hunt until dark. Literally 5 minutes after getting in my stand I had 3 does run up to me. I shot the fattest and filled my last tag until muzzleloader season. About a half hour later we decided that I would push a ridge that the deer like to bed down on towards my sons stand. This 8 pointer came trotting up to him and he filled his last tag. It wasn't exactly great deer hunting weather (60 degrees) and we didn't think the late start would help but the stars lined up for a memorable hunt.

Tough fishing. Only saw a few other boats out. Water was COLD. I had 45 degrees down 23 feet most of the night. Marked quite a bit of bait but almost no fish. The only hit I got was a 6 lb steelie on a nk glowfrog down 20. Super nice night on the lake. Wish the fishing would have been better. Probably my last trip of the year. ====================
