    At this time of the year, there will be tons of smaller fish in 90-100. Bigger fish will be in 120 - 200. If you want lakers, you will have to travel East of Sandy Creek to find decent numbers. 1.0 - 1.8 with cowbells and spin n glo rigs are the most productive method.

    You flip them over on their back and lightly push on their belly moving your hands / fingers forward. Another tip is to drop them in head first. It pushes water into them and pushes the air out. I can watch them streak right back to the bottom on my fish finder most of the time.

    The key is handling them and getting them back as fast as possible for the most part. Lakers brought up too fast will need to be burped before they are returned. If the are not burped, they will not be able to swim back to the bottom due to the amount of air in them. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

    Keith and I have been trying to get the boys out to fish the Orleans County Derby for the last week. We planned a trip for this afternoon and it panned out. We left the dock around 3:30 and headed to the laker grounds East of port. Like the other day, the lakers were scattered but we made the best out of what we had. Brayden and Mason reeled in 23 lakers and a steelhead in a couple hours of fishing. Silver Glow and Blue Glow mirage Gambler Rigs behind Hammerhead Crystalina Watermelon cowbells put all the lakers in the boat. The steelhead took a Green Glow Alewive stinger on a high rigger down 60'. Best depth seemed to be 125'.

    I think so Mike. If I was at the boat, I could check but I'm not. I believe the number is on the front of the lock in very small numbers.

    Laker water off of Sandy is 90 -140'. Most of the lakers off of Sandy will stay in that water all season.

    They have a number on them that has to match.

    I find as the end of August rolls around, don't be afraid to fish up to 70 degrees. Like kings, the spawners seem to like the warmer water. If you see marks up high above the thermalcline, most of the times they are big browns (some days they are in 70+ degree water). Free sliders and high divers work well on those fish. I like 55-65 degrees for browns in summer. I find where 60-62 degrees intersects the bottom and work inside and outside of that zone.

    No. The water is just at the tops of the docks. They do not look in good shape either.

    Sandy Creek 8/11/17 Fished with double D and decided to target browns and lakers since the Orleans County Derby board was wide open. Ran out to 90' and found good brown temps down 70-75'. We slid into 75' and started the morning off with a small king followed by a nice bow and a really nice coho. After a short troll, we were into the browns and small kings. After a couple hours, we boated a bunch of good browns and a ton of small kings including a 11lb. and 10 and change brown for the leaderboard in the Orleans Derby. We slid out to the laker water and had trouble finding a good screen. The lakers were very scattered and tight to the bottom. We ground out a bunch of lakers including a 17lb. 10oz. laker to take the top spot in the Orleans Derby. That fish took a Silver Glow Gambler Rig behind a Crystalina Water Melon Hammerhead Cowbell.

    They said that was due to heavy currents in the Saint Lawrence. I guess there are some sections that narrow down and get really hard to navigate when the outflow levels get above 10,000.

    wait until it clears up. The water has been a little on the dirty side lately.

    We WILL see this flooding again next year. Lake Erie is projected to be well above average again this winter.
