I would go a little longer on the spin n glow lead. I run mine 24' - 28'. There are days when the lakers are hardware shy. Some days they do not want to come into a flasher / dodger or cowbells.
All the ones we weigh in for the derbies are given away to guys that eat them. I have tried them the ways these guys prepare them and would rather eat Kings, Coho, Atlantics and Steelhead.
Bouncing bottom with Kwikfish will catch lakers but the draw back it the zebra muscles. If you bounce too much, you will foul the hooks with zebra muscles. Spin n Glos are a better choice.
If the DEC cuts King stocking, we will never see an increase again. If the Alewive population explodes, the fish they would stock are lakers. The writing is on the wall!

Too bad you have no idea what is going on behind the scenes John. You can tell them until you are blue in the face that the bait is there but they will not listen to us.
The fishery is going in the direction of a lake trout fishery. Lakers are the future of the Great Lakes. If you don't believe it, you are in for a big surprise. The writing is on the wall. I like the 20lb minimum. The LOC should up the minimum to at least 17lbs.
This reminds me of my last boat when it was brand new. I was mounting downriggers and dropped an end wrench and it fell perfectly across both battery terminals! Lots of sparks and smoke from a Brand new outboard that had never seen water! I took it back to the dealer and they replaced every ground wire on the motor!
