  1. Vince did not say to close the tribs totally Dave. He is talking about closing sections that support natural reproduction. They close lake trout season to protect spawning lakers. Why not do it with kings since 50% of the population is from natural reproduction?
  2. I believe he is reading you the same as I am Dave. You and your "Metal Head" friends comment was proof in the pudding. You have slathered your love for the streams and the Atlantic agenda on this board before.
  3. I would think steelhead would end up dead more over Browns. Steelhead fight to the death!
  4. Dave, the creel census is skewed. They do way more in ports where the steelhead are targeted more and there are more boats to stop. If they spent more time in the rochester basin and east, you would see a drastic reduction in steelhead. The ports to the west have steelhead within reach all the time thanks to the niagara plume. Sandy east when kings are not around, it is brown and laker time. That one issue with the creek census. Another issue with it is it does not show year class of salmon being caught. Last year they said the king numbers were high. Little did they show it was MOSTLY one and two year old kings (not a true representation of the fishery). I have not seen the creel census boat on Sandy in three years. And that last time I saw them, they were putting the boat back on the trailer at 11am.
  5. I will sell lot 1 shipped to the lower 48 for $20.00.
  6. I got one out of sandy this summer. I know three other boats that got one also.
  7. Wasn't 2012's hatch of alewives through the roof Vince?
  8. The two lots pictured are left.
  9. Rich s king Davy also has a different agenda than most. He would rather the king be totally gone so he can have a lake full of Atlantic salmon. Look back at his posts. You will see it.
  10. Careful what you wish for Dave. Without the salmon fishery on the lake and Tribs, you will not have a steelhead fishery. You will be standing stream side wondering if lake trout will ever come into the Tribs. The steelhead would eat too many alewives and go belly up like last fall. Have fun swinging flies to whirling steelhead.
  11. Where are you getting 300,00? Is that what is stocked in the Salmon River? If so, add a lot to that to make up for natural reproduction, and strays that return to the hatchery and not the trib they were stocked in. If 50% of the fish swimming in Lake Ontario are naturals, most of that comes from the Salmon River.
  12. There is a method out there called the Didson system. They use it on the West Coast in Canada. Here is a link a site that talks about it http://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/science/publications/article/2012/02-22-12-eng.html. The only issue on the salmon river is the variety of species.
  13. I wonder if there could be a salmon die off due to thiamin issues like the steelhead? If they died in the lake, would they even know it was happening?
  14. Trolling them is way more productive. I run cowbells just off the bottom with spin n glow rigs. Jogging can be tough due to heavy currents. It is doable but not as easy. There is way more of a learning curve.
  15. If you read the answers from Lapan, the one that concerns me the most is his answer that brings up charters fishing lakers. If you read the objectives for lake trout restoration, the plan only allows for a certain number of lake trout to be harvested between US and Canada. If too many are harvested, what is the plan? Drop the limit to one? If they dropped it to one laker per person, this would allow the lake trout numbers to increase big time. If we had years of good king fishing and no one was keeping lakers, the population would explode. This would not be good for baitfish levels.
  16. It is in a case but the zipper is broken on the case. It is three pieces.
  17. Alaskan genetics would not work since they spawn in the summer.
  18. Price Drop..... $80.00 plus $10.00 shipping to the lower 48.
  19. Price Drop.... $50.00 for both lots shipped to the lower 48.
  20. The pens must be cleaned with a brush on a pole. We do it at the Sandy Creek pen rearing project. As for laker survival, as long as you don't horse them up, burp them if they are full of air, and revive them it's pretty good. If you do not take care of them, the will float.
  21. You could have a machine shop make a plate that screws into the swivel base
  22. It is old enough that I would not eat it! I'm not really sure. The 34.06 caught on my boat was 27 but the one caught on the bar years ago at close to 40 was only 11 years old. I guess it can vary. I wonder if what strain it is makes a difference?
