  1. I just purchased some heartlands from Overtons. Great price too.
  2. Have them add some break walls for a channel Missem!
  3. Say what you want about laker fishing Rick. The more lakers taken out of the system by fishermen, the brighter our king future looks. The laker population has been climbing the past three seasons. I have seen a drastic increase in fish under 15lbs. Think about how many alewives a laker eats compared to a king in its lifetime.
  4. Pike regs should be changed by body of water. You can keep the same number of pike on Silver Lake as you can on Lake Ontario???? Lake Ontario bays can take a beating a lot better than the Finger Lakes.
  5. Aren't most YOY alewives found inshore in brown waters? Hopefully we have a very mild winter and things get back on track. This is my biggest fear when they stocked more lakers. If there are two bad years of YOY alewives, another bad winter we could have bait issues down the road. If it was extra kings they stocked, we could get them out of the system in a couple years and minimize the damage. We will not be able to get the lakers out of the system for a long time and we could be in trouble. They say lakers are eating mostly gobies but the majority of baitfish spit up when we fish lakers are ALEWIVES. This past June, we were trolling the bottom in 120 fow and watching fish streak back to the empty bottom and then the rods would pop. The upper part of the water column was loaded with alewives and they were spitting them up like crazy. Most of the lakers we found this year were not on structure, they were under bait schools. Normally, I find my lakers hugging the bottom on structure. Not the case this year. I had to fish the bait schools like they were structure.
  6. By the looks of the channel in the drawings, nothing is going to keep the sand from filling in the channel........
  7. A lot of the reasoning is to decrease the doe population in the DEC's answers. Wouldn't it be better to give out more doe tags?
  8. I kept a deep hooked tiger (bleeding horribly and did not revive) out of Conesus and I do not see why anyone would want to keep a tiger. They taste like largemouth caught in the summer.
  9. You were fishing below them. The difference from 2.2 - 1.5 - 1.7 on a wire diver in depth is a lot that slow.
  10. Lots 3,4,5,7 and 9 are sold pending payment. Bandrus you are next in line for #9 if the deal falls apart.
  11. One mans trash is another mans treasure! Lake Trout = $$$ in the LOC derby (Spring and Summer anyways) We target lakers a lot when kings are not around and have a blast doing it.
  12. A puppy compared to the last one. Congrats Bruce.
  13. These spoons are mostly like new condition. Some have never touched water. I will only ship to the lower 48 or local pick up. Shipping will be $7.00. Lot #1 - $30.00 Free Shipping - Warrior Spoons, ITO 6" flies, Koyote Ugly spoon and 4 Finger Lakes tackle spoons http:// Lot #2 15 -NK 28's $38.00 Free Shipping http://
  14. Time of the year and body of water play a big roll in weight. I got a 26.5" fish from Quinte that weighed 9.2lbs. I caught a 28" fish from a Lake Ontario Bay that only went 7lbs. Both were caught in the winter.
  15. There was a nice 8 point in the field the other night Rob. I forgot to text you.
  16. I use the Double Willis on my cores. The knot is easy to tie and holds great.
  17. If they would do this, we could do fundraisers and derbies to support the hatchery. Isn't there a ton of money sitting in the Conservation Fund right now? There were talks about a Niagara hatchery years ago. That got shot down for BS reasons. Why couldn't we outsource the raising of the fish to the Powder Mill Staff? Make it a salmon only hatchery and raise the browns from Powder Mill elsewhere.
  18. Someone mentioned a method that would disinfect the eggs (it is used in another state). They circumvented that question at the State of the Lake meetings a couple years ago. If the DEC cared about the king fishery, they would be open to ideas and willing to make a change.
  19. I mentioned Powder Mill two years ago at the state of the lake meetings and they said they did not want to have kings there because it was private and could affect Browns that they stock from there......
  20. When I was offshore off of Sandy last week, I took kings down 120+ out of 39 degree water. Do not overlook those marks! Good luck guys. My season is done.
  21. Dave Chilsons gripe was the same people won the money every year. He also wanted to promote the salmon more......
  22. Upper Twenties to low thirty years old is my guess. Ours was 27 years.
  23. Welcome to the Club Bruce! The 34.06 we caught in 2012 came off lighthouse in 128'. That area is a great spot for those pigs in August!
