  1. There is a big break there. The thermalcline jumps from 60 down to 35 down in a short span. Tons of bait from 40-150 down.
  2. We fished the same are as Dan and did some nice kings, and a couple steelhead. I had a scare when I put the rigger down 80' and was rigging the free slider. I felt the rigger release and had to scramble to get the rod in my hand before it got yanked overboard. We ended up dumping that fish after a 480' run. We took fish 40-80 down. After the kings slowed, we tucked inside and did some good lakers up to 18.02. All were released to fight another day.
  3. Any legal lake trout is now allowed. The 30" minimum was dropped to make the weigh in flow a little better. Entrants need to remember that you are allowed two lakers per person with ONLY ONE in the 25-30 slot.
  4. You have to go into the settings menu and select it.
  5. With 300,000 extra being stocked, it will not be an issue. The laker population is not hurting in the least bit. I have seen a steady increase in the laker numbers over the last five years. My lake trout per hour number has increased every year for the last three years. I have not changed my technique at all. There are simply more around. If we had five bad king seasons in a row it might be a concern. There limits are set at two per person with only one in the slot. I would be willing to bet more kings are killed on a slow king year than lakers. With the ability to live a long time, there are more lakers swimming around Lake Ontario than kings.
  6. They do. I put one in this year for the same unit. I found mine at the GPS store. It was $99.00.
  7. Narby's in oak orchard has some.
  8. That's ok Matt. I'm not offended. A lot of people think that. I got big shoulders. Besides, the more people you crank up, the bigger the target gets on your back for the Shootout!
  9. Blah blah blah..... That's right, the escape crew can only catch lakers.
  10. I run quality stuff Rick. I run the same stuff you do for the most part. Sh*t happens that is out of ANYONES control. What you are trying to tell me is you never have a rigger fish come up into a diver before you can get to the rod? I think not..... All this technology is causing us to over think the entire process.
  11. Having an expensive probe on 250 lb test cable is risky enough. Why would you want to put it on a line that could be broken off?
  12. Be careful buying off brand swivels. Stick with the Torpedo, Spro or Sampos. Some off brands are cheaper for a reason.
  13. Whats a team without a good quarterback? Matt Cassel is not the answer!
  14. Frogg Toggs. Light, Breathable and they keep you dry.
  15. Anyone interested in the Calcutta, contact me. I will also be able to meet people in the Greece area after work to collect entry fees.
  16. Anyone know of a way to contact John from Northern King lures? I tired the old number but it is disconnected.
  17. I just popped a bag of popcorn for this one! He must be planning his revenge Matt! Way to quiet for Rick.
  18. A lot of steelhead came into the creeks late. A warm May with no rain more than likely booted them out early due to high water temps. The sandy creek pen rearing project was cancelled this year because the water was too warm days before the fish were delivered.
  19. I did not screw into the fiberglass. I screwed a board into the wood frame on my hatch and the entrance way to the cuddy. The rod holders are screwed into the board
  20. I will show you my set up next time is see you Matt.
  21. Nice job Matt! Tommy is going to boot us out of the marina because the laker poop odor coming from our boats. Mine smells horrible after the last two trips!
  22. Cowbells are my go to attractor for lakers on Lake Ontario. Paired with the proper spin n glow, they can be deadly.
  23. Cannon Mag 10 STX comes with 250'. I would think that is what the counter is calibrated for. Adding any diameter to the spool will change the accuracy of the counter. I had 400' put on 2 of my older riggers and they would hit bottom a lot sooner than the rigger with 250'.
  24. The other thing you can do with the fishhawk is use it on ANY rigger on the boat. I usually run mine on the port rigger until we laker fish. It is then moved to the middle rigger to keep the probe away from the bottom.
