    Growing season cut short by cold winter/ spring last year is more likely the cause. The Alewive Plumpness was down last year too according to their data. Less plumpness = eating more alewives to gain weight which also = more energy used to eat.

    Unfortunatly, this will only get worse with 300,000 more being stocked......

    99% of the guys that fish the Bayside Tourney dont even fish Irondequoit Bay let alone the cove behind the bar. The Tourney is open to any waters to fish.

    It can be good but most of the time it is dead. My buddy fished it a couple weeks back and it was DEAD!

    Iceman, I target lakers on purpose. The point I'm trying to make is, the kings were missing last year so we were forced to fish lakers and browns to put fish in the boat. I do not have much faith in the DEC creel survey.

    I find it interesting that they say the laker catch rate was down....... In 22 trips last season, we caught 382 lake trout on my boat and 43 kings (not counting skippers). Record high lake trout numbers and a record low king numbers for me. I did not see the creel survey boat ONCE all summer out of Sandy.

    1/2 to 1 oz jig heads with white 3" Mr twister curly tailed grubs. Find deep water, drop it to the bottom, jig it really aggressively a couple times and start reeling up. A flasher will help big time. It is very entertaining to watch them chase. The faster you reel, the faster they chase.

    The taste like kings. What is the baitfish in the water you are fishing. If it is alewives, they will not do that great.

    I have caught a bunch of Atlantics over the years and half gave up a good fight and the the other half did not fight much at all. They do not get as big as kings (a big one is a high teens fish).

    Sodus has been good for pike this year. Only issue is the conditions. Pm me if you want details.

    You can also put a piece of chain hanging off the ball. Tie it on with lighter cable than your rigger cable so if it hangs, it breaks off.

    Looks great but be careful Matt, a scrapper might take it off your boat.

    I stopped using rubber bands on my boat for one reason.... Rubber bands are no good for bilge pumps.

    Matt, They are fun to watch other people reel in. I just make sure someone else grabs the 500 when it goes off on my boat. It flat out catches fish. The 300 and 500 have been my biggest producers over the past couple seasons.

    I started with 100' incriments and you would have one copper going and the other was dead. 50' incriments made a huge difference. You can dial in a spread and get both coppers firing.
