  1. Braddocks and Long pond might be a little muddy after the warm up. The creek flowing into both were very high and brown for a couple if days.
  2. I run clippers for flatlines and Scotty power grips for coppers and cores. I run the small ones for cores and coppers under 300' with spoons and the big ones for long coppers or coppers with flasher/flies
  3. If you can't afford doing a couple charters, look into finding someone that will take you out. Lots of guys are looking for someone to pitch in for gas.
  4. They are just the tools of the trade. You have to be ready for what ever conditions Lake Ontario throws at you!
  5. As for rods, I run the following: riggers - ( 8 ) 8 1/2' Daiwa Heartlands Plainer rods - ( 8 ) 7 1/2' Daiwa Heartlands Divers - (2) 8 1/2' Okuma Blue Diamond roller rods and (2)10' Okuma Blue Diamond roller rods Copper - ( 8 ) Gander Mountain Guide Series 8' Leadcore rods Leadcore (1) - Gander Mountain Guide Series 8' Leadcore Rods Slide Divers (2) 9' Daiwa Heartland Diver rods
  6. The rods will bounce out of those. Go with the berkley locking rod holders. I have them on the ceiling of my cuddy and it is perfect.
  7. I have seen some lakers in small Lake O tribs. There is a strain of lakers in Lake Ontario that spawns in the Niagara River so yes some lakers spawn in rivers/streams. I think you might be onto something Sk8man about them coming into tribs to feed. As for the skinny body, I ran into a bunch of lakers like this from Canadice. They all had rubber baits in their stomachs.
  8. Hmmmmmmm....... Sounds familiar
  9. The DEC needs to change the regs by a lake to lake basis. 5 pike any size is way too much for some waters. The issue with pike in Conesus might not be just a catch and take issue. In the older days, pike used to have a healthy population of perch to eat. Now they are eating more alewives and no perch. Ice derbies offer too many oppuritunites for cheating. Catch and release tournies would only make it easier. This derby catch and keep or catch and release, will be easy to bring a fish to the scales that was not caught by the rules.Last thing, What is the payout going to be with only 55 entrants with an overhead of $15,000 ?
  10. You would be surprised how many browns spawn in the lake.
  11. Awesome. Now we need spring.
  12. Part #13 on this link is what I'm talking about. https://www.bigjon.com/admin/partsimage/1395151992RH00432skm.pdf
  13. You selling yours Scott?
  14. In the picture it looks like the small track that it slides in is missing.
  15. The slow period after 10am for kings means one thing........ Time to start farming. No need to burn gas and not catch fish.
  16. Congrats Matt!
  17. Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. I hear you get one of those when winter is too cold for you and you go south!
  19. Exactly!!! From the weekend angler to the fulltime charter captain, we all have a lot invested into this fishery.
  20. Only pick them up by the eyes if you plan on eating them. The DEC has a little article about the vertical thing. It can damage their spines and internal organs.
  21. The real question we should be asking is how do you know so much about the real housewives Matt?
  22. Makes you wonder what is causing all of these hatchery issues. Cost cutting? Understaffed?
