  1. The genesee river and I bay are over patrolled! Coast guard, sheriffs, state park police, boarder patrol, city of rochester police (saw this boat for the first time the other day fishing the pier) and the state park police. The patrols spend too much time doing safety inspections instead of stopping idiots. When I had my boat on Ibay, we would get stopped by the Monroe county sheriff almost every trip for a safety inspection. That time could have been spent giving tickets for speeding, or unsafe operation!
  2. SW winds it will be ok inside of 200.
  3. It is funny how my discussion with a select few this spring about trout being as important as salmon really came to light this summer. A couple that made it sound like I was off my rocker were fishing browns and lakers to keep charters alive. This is the reason ALL species of Lake Ontario should get the same respect! With one piece of the puzzle missing, the others hold the fishery together.
  4. Price reduced to 40.00 if picked up, 50.00 if shipped
  5. The ice and constant east winds has a lot to do with the slow fishing on top of too much bait. The core lake temp got five degrees colder than years past. In turn, the lake warms slower. The east winds and lack of west/northwest winds did not allow the warm water to pile up on the south shore.
  6. More people should read Vince's post about too much bait. The man is spot on. I went offshore today before the winds and could not believe the bait. Went all the way back into the shallows and marked TONS of bait the entire way. Last year there seemed to be a lack of two year old kings out there. If that is the case, there will be very few three year olds this year. We will see. I hope things change because the waters in usually are getting a little crowded!
  7. It's usually tough but I have not seen it this slow lake wide in a very very long time.
  8. Thanks! There are a lot of steelhead in that 7 - 10lb range this year. During the Oak Orchard Open we caught a bunch of that sized steelhead. The next couple seasons look promising for big steelhead!
  9. And that right there is enough of a reason to not run then. Flipped boards have the potential to turn into a dangerous situation if things are not handled quickly enough.
  10. But copper usually excels later in the morning when things start to slow down.
  11. Not in NY. 15 hook points per line
  12. Hopefully the moss cleared out all the way. PITA last week. I tried two days but gave up after catching a couple really quick. I had to clear rods every ten minutes!
  13. Good luck Bill. I will be out Sunday, Monday and Tuesday!
  14. The bear that was seen in Hilton was on my street for a couple of days. I should check my trail camera behind the house.
  15. Lol Scott! Splitting hairs for sure. Who cares what depth your riggers are running at. Fish will move to hit a bait! When do we get to the point where technology starts to hinder our abilities?
  16. I purchased my boat from my fathers buddy. I replaced the shifter, shift cables, steering cable and drive in the first year. If I would have had a survey done, I would not own the boat. 5 years into ownership, I found out the stringers were pretty much crumbled wet wood and the transom was rotted. The fiberglass guy I used said this issue was bad before I purchased the boat!
  17. Trash the snubber all together. They are only needed if you are trolling lighter leaders for browns.
  18. It will fit a 10 color, leader and 300yds of braid for backing.
