  1. I use the Special Mate boxes. They are great but don't leave them open on the seat on a rough day !
  2. Do you live in a cave Tom? There has been hundreds of geese flying around Monroe County all winter.
  3. What do you need fixed Matt? It is really easy and a lot cheaper to do it yourself.
  4. Hopefully those swans are local mute swans that are over populated and not tundra swans.
  5. I have been a cannon owner for years. The current riggers on my boat have ten seasons on them. Mine get a ton of abuse lake trout fishing lake o and they keep on running flawlessly.
  6. Spring really needs to get here!
  7. Sandy Creek in Hamlin. Free launch and great fishing with way less boat traffic than most ports.
  8. It is a barrier placed across the mouth of the Niagara River that prevents large ice flows from entering the river.
  9. I have run the Daiwa Heartlands for years. They are good rods for the money. I found the best deals through Hallet Bait and Tackle www.shop.fishhbt.com. Good luck.
  10. Fish of a life time. Good luck on catching another one.
  11. The record might go down this year. Lets hope we get some warmth so it comes out early to kick off the spring salmon season.
  12. Thank God. Bring on the thaw.

    Sodus bay

I was there yesterday and it was 20" easy. NO snow on the ice either.
  14. I made labels with a label maker and put them on the top of the reel.
  15. Buy the best you can afford. The Saltists and Catalinas are top end reels but are worth the extra money. The high gear ratios and better drag systems make life easier. I have runthe Saltist for 3 years now and love them. No issues yet.
  16. If vanish was used for trout and salmon on Lake Ontario, tackle shops would be the twice as busy as they are now. It has poor knot strength, and it had very little abrasion resistance compared to other brands.
  17. If you are using okuma reels, use a reel that costs more than the spool of wire. Magda pro reels are absolute garbage. Convectors are a much better choice.

That would be great. Good luck with the sale of the old boat and good luck with the new boat.

    What did you buy Dave?
  22. I have 2 FF/GPS units on my boat. If one goes down, you have a back up of either. If you get dual frequency transducers, you can run them both at the same time and see a lot more with 2. It is amazing what you see with a 50 khz transducer compared to a 200khz transducer when the fish are deep. You get the exact opposite when the fish are shallow.
  23. If the measurements of the line on the board is wrong, it will pull the nose towards the boat and cause it to dive. If you dig back through old posts, Yankee Troller posted the measurements for them. The half keels are full keel with half the weight. The original double keels did sink because guys were using them with a full weight on them. There is no need for a full weight.
  24. The small rope on the board (connects to the front of the board and the back of the board) needs to be measured correctly when it is installed or they will dive and sink. If I was home right now, I would go out in the garage and get the measurements.
  25. If they were sinking and not running true, you did not have the string lengths correct.
