  1. My Gimbal bearing and engine coupler went bad leading us to find rotted stringers in my boat. Drill a hole in the stringers to see if the wood is rotted. If they are not, simply fill the hole with resin. If they are, have fun putting new ones in.
  2. Come on Chad, You can average 17 per trip with only two rods out if you come to the dark side and fish lakers like I do.
  3. Hammerhead cowbells with spin n glows are my go to for lakers. There is NO BETTER way to catch lakers than the old cowbell and spin n glow set up. As for steelies, I have a NK spoon that is pink, blue, purple and silver that rocks steelies in the spring. NK no longer makes the spoon but I found some in the reject bins at his sale a couple years back.
  4. Clippers. They don't flip around and tangle lines when you have a released release on the tow line.
  5. It couldnt have been too recent because the grass has not been that bare in while!
  6. I run the blue diamond roller rods and love them. I have heard good things about the regular diver rods too. I would go with a Daiwa Saltist 30 over a Tekota. The Saltist drag is super smooth and adjusts a better than the Tekota.
  7. What's wrong with that Keith? Isn't that how it is supposed to be?
  8. They lock down on the line and hold the position you set them at. They hold the position by a piece of surgical tubing on the diver that the line goes through. You let out your desired lead and lock it in. I reset the line counter and set it out the distance I want. It is not as complicated as it sounds. Look on Youtube for a video. I watched one on slide divers a couple years ago.
  9. I use the slide divers for browns and high fish when temp is up high. It is nice to have the option to run long leads off the divers. I ended up buying 2 rod and reel combos dedicated to slide divers.
  10. For those of you that were inquiring about the age of this fish, the DEC finally got back to me with an age on this lake trout. It was 27 years old.
  11. Here is the ESCAPE (aka Chicken Coupe). She is a 1986 Starcraft 22'. She has new stringers, transom and a new 350 engine.
  12. I texted him today with no response. If I hear anything I will let you know.
  13. 2013 was a good season but we were spoiled by 2010, 2011 and defiantly 2012. Unstable weather in 2013 did not help things. Every year is different and hopefully 2014 is close to if not better that 2012.

    VB Derby

I heard teds bait is having a derby that day too. 2 derbies one day one lake. The zoo will be open!
  15. Rolmops you might be on to something. Why couldn't powder mill raise kings? Irondequoit creek supports trout all year in the creek. Could we raise $ to support the project?
  16. Thoughts and prayers Jim. Rest up bud. Spring will be here soon.
  17. It would cost a lot less to modify Caledonia and make it 2 separate hatcheries so contamination would not occur. I would think the DEC would be all about saving money in fuel costs in fish delivery since the state only cares about saving money and not doing the right thing.
  18. My father has become a snow bird so he is selling his Frabill 2 man shelter. It comes with the travel cover and a runner kit. He is also throwing in a small propane heater. This shelter is in good shape with low hours on it. Pick up in East Bloomfield. $250.00 firm
  19. I'm selling my lightly used clam Kodiak 1 man shelter. Shelter comes with the runner kit, travel cover and the clam one man storage bag (all 3 are a 140$ value). $225.00 pick up in hilton or I will meet someone in the Greece / hilton area.
  20. I got the word about the age of the 34lb laker on Friday. It was 27 years old.
