  1. I got mine at fish307. I think they were around 54$
  2. Only issue with short rods in small boats is leader length when netting a fish. Sometimes hand lining the fish in is a must.
  3. These biologists must be hired by the Obama administration!
  4. Matt, where are you fishing out of? We fished Chapmans yesterday and had 10+" of ice. There was a nasty pressure ridge right off the park. Not an issue to cross a hundred tads down the shoreline. We fished way offshore and had good ice all the way.
  5. When I got a rider on my insurance for my gear, I had to prove I had the gear I have by pictures.
  6. I think this style of tourney is the best yet. It forces the field to be able to fish more than just kings. The escape crew is going to make a showing at this one for sure. Nice job guys.
  7. Is culling going to be allowed? Or first legal fish in the box?
  8. No more super sportsmen or sportsmen licenses? I just added it up and the super sportsmen with doe tags will cost 1$ less than before. That sucks. Should be less with all the decreases in prices!
  9. Yes they are. The Hammerhead blades are my go to bells. Google Hammerhead Charters. He is the maker of Hammerhead cowbells right here in Rochester.
  10. Hopefully they bring back the AM division if it does happen to get planned.
  11. Here is a copy of the Email: For the past nine years Orleans County has been honored to host one of four Lake Ontario Trout and Salmon Pro-Am Tournaments. During that time we hope that we have been able to showcase all the wonderful facilities along with a great fishery that is available along our shoreline. It is with great sadness that we announce today that there will not be a 2014 Orleans County Pro-Am. The reasons are many but the bottom line is that the time has come for this event to, at least, take 2014 off and try to look to the future. To all of the great teams and individuals that we have been privileged to host over the years, we wish you only the best in other derbies and tournaments that you will participate in for the 2014 season. Respectfully, Orleans County Pro-Am Committee Mike Waterhouse Sportfishing Coordinator - Tourism Orleans County 14016 Route 31 Albion, NY 14411 Phone: (585) 589-7000 ext 3103 Fax: (585) 589-8105 Website: Email: [email protected]
  12. I got an email from Mike Waterhouse today saying the 2014 Orleans County Pro Am is cancelled. Bummer.
  13. Happy New Year everyone. Hopefully 2014 is like the summer of 2012!
  14. Nice shoot Matt. Any of those getting dropped off to Greg?
  15. I have run saltist reels for the past 4 seasons and they are the best performing reel on the market for the money. A saltist 40 should fit a 8 color and a 12 will be tight but will fit on a 50. I just put together a 10 on a 50. The high speed retrieval, super smooth drag and the fine tuning adjustment of the drag is amazing. The only downfall of the saltist is the line counter. For the core, they are not needed so it will not be an issue for you.
  16. I'm with you Hasbeen. I started getting gear ready about a month ago.
  17. They were attracted by the football team that stinks up the inside the stadium!
  18. My buddy was out West hunting turkeys and got attacked by a bobcat. He was sitting up against a tree using a box call and the bobcat jumped on his back biting him in the head. He ended up shooting the bobcat and luckily it was not rabid. He had some nasty scrath marks and a couple tooth marks in his head.
  19. <br />Fishing out of my port in the fall derby was not an issue until the lake trout division was yanked . Now it's a brown only derby for us.
  20. You it's want to see slow fishing, try fishing come fish the fall derby with me or Scott out of sandy. Without lake trout and brown fishing we have a slow day on the water. Now we are down to brown fishing in the fall derby. Last year I ran wwaaayyy offshore and found one fish! At he same time, the inside waters were dead and guys off the bar were doing way better.
  21. Hmmm. A bunch of years the Fall derby has been won from Niagara County. Fishing can't be too bad Tim.
  22. My buddy did some research and found most of the time the issue is the primer and the bullet. If the bullet is not tight in the breech, the 209 primers will have enough kick to move the bullet and powder before igniting it. This causes inconsistant patterning in muzzleloaders.
  23. It looks like no steelhead division in the Spring LOC and the $ from that division was put into the king division. The Lake trout division is not in the fall derby again. There looks to be some Big king of the day in the summer derby. Atleast now the money from the steelhead division will be going to a fishermen instead of back into the pocket of the owner.
  24. I have been using them for years with no issues.
