Buy everything for $40.00. I will not ship this stuff. Local pick up or I will meet someone in Greece/Hilton/Hamlin/Spencerport area.
  3. Congrats Mark and Vince!
  4. I went with the X4. Like Sammyslayer, I can see the weights and my cheaters on my fish finders so I'm not really worried about the depth. The speed and temp readings are rock solid and the probe will work on ANY rigger in the boat without changing out rigger cable. Fish Hawk has really fixed the old issues of the 840. The battery life is awesome. I used one set of batteries in 26 trips on Lake O this summer.
  5. It is way above what it was last year at his time. This is the normal level for this time of the year.
  6. I was talking about musky.
  7. The part of the law the DEC would write a ticket on is the photo graphing of the fish out of the water. This happens every winter on a musky lake and someone posts it on the internet and the dec tracks them down. I think last year it was Chaumont Bay and the year before it was Waneta. Would I have taken a pic out of the water? You bet. Would I have posted it on the internet? Not a chance.
  8. I do it the same way. That thin little slab you waste gets over cooked in the fryer anyways. Not worth the hassle.
  9. Acid wash. Before next season, have your hull painted with vapor barrier paint and then VC17 anti fouling paint. A quick hose off with a pressure washer and you will be done.
  10. I believe the lakers are bigger due to year class survival more than gobies. If he population gets hammered by fishing pressure, it does not matter how many gobies they eat. What percent of the lake trout population makes it to 20lbs? Not a lot. The higher the population, the more chances you will see big lakers. I have seen a drastic climb in he lake trout population the past three year. The numbers of smaller fish are making it harder to target and be successful finding big lakers. Therefor more lakers survive longer. When the laker population was lower, it was easier to catch bigger lakers. There were fewer small ones around to fish through to get to the old girls.
  11. i used this guy 2 years ago. Fast and did a great job. Packaged nice and the meat was not hairy!
  12. Lets see.... I can only have 7 rounds in a clip now. They have not taken guns away YET but this is the beginning.
  13. God help us if our guns are taken away. The criminals will bust in your house, take everything with them (or do horrible things to you or your family) and you will not be able to defend your own home! This is the path we are heading down......
  14. What color as the meat?
  15. If you want to slow down gun violence, take action and get the ILLEGAL guns off the streets!
  16. Here are a couple questions I think about when I recap this season: 1. How unstable was the weather this season? 2. How could the bait population explode that much in one year? 3. Did I fish offshore in more stable water to find more fish? 4. What were the conditions like the fall these matures were hatched in the wild? 5. How many days did you want to pull your hair out because the screen was full of marks and you could not get them to go? This season, the winds were unstable and as we all know, trout and salmon seek stable water. I for one did not spend much time way offshore looking when the inside waters were slow. I know of a couple guys that made the run all summer and were greated with huge numbers of all year classes of kings. The bait we marked this season was amazing. I can remember days in the 90's where we did not mark an entire school of bait all day. With all the bait, we have more competition with our lures. With all these wild fish from the salmon river and possibly other tribs, we can expect up and down year classes due to flooding, droughts, snagging and other issues that challenge the wild kings. We have been spoiled in the seasons before this year (2012, 2011, and 2010). Unfortunatly every year will be different.
  17. Look at www.fishhbt.com. They have the best price i could find
  18. This season the lakers got hit hard. The 3 seasons prior they were left alone for the most part. And you are right Steve, laker fishing is work but only if you are doing it the right way!
  19. Another reason the lake trout are getting bigger because the pressure has been off the fishery the past couple seasons. The king fishing was good enough the past couple years and the charters did not have to lean on the lake trout population to help support their trips. Same thing goes for the browns.
  20. The laker season closes October 1st. They do spawn without much success. Usually offshore steelhead and future year class kings can be found offshore all over the water column. Some years it rocks and some years it is tough. Browns can be found along shore like the spring once the water cools some. Closer to some tribs usually holds more fish.
  21. Unfortunately a couple bad apples ruin it for the guys that work their bits off. Those that lack the key attributes of a good captain should not last long. Clients are spending good $ and will figure it out.
  22. Daiwa saltist hands down.
  23. This would make on hell of a sport fishery since Atlantic populations are piss poor for the amount stock ( mostly by Canada). Look at the numbers stocked in Canada compared to the numbers that return. Hundreds of thousands stocked with a hundred or so returns every year. Remember Atlantics spawn more than once in a lifetime so that makes that hundred or so even worse. The dead kings are not an issue. If you ever want the truth about Atlantics, log on to spoonpullers and look up a guy by the screen name Kwikfish. He will give you some good facts on Atlantics
  24. Email dave chilson. He might give up that info.
  25. You guys has to be flying. We were doing 2.6 at the ball. We ran 2 riggers,2 divers a 10 color and a 300 copper. All our fish came up high. Nothing deep. We ran 2 rods deep and the rest high.
