  1. Started the morning in 125 off the nose. 4 minutes of trolling and only five rods in the water, we were on our first fish of the day. After an awesome fight, Keith slid the net under a 30lb 12 (loc scale weight) king. After 15 minutes of getting rods out, the 210 diver starts screaming. After a 550' run, Steve Lands a 27 and change king. At 730 we did our third king at 15 and change. After that our day took a major turn ( just like the bills we started of strong and then we faded away!) We struggled to find fish over 7 lbs. we did have a nice laker but it was short of the 30" minimum by 1/4"! At the weigh in, we took 10 th place and big fish of the tourney. Congrats to all the winners. Once again the guys that ran the Shootout did an awesome job!
  2. Nope. I do not think we will ever see the age at this point.
  3. While we are at it lets get the lake trout division back and allow us to weigh in fish the next morning. Maybe we should put together a petition?
  4. Is there a list of teams that has entered the Calcutta? Just curious.
  5. One Atlantic over 25" and 2 lakers with one in the slot (25 to 30") too.
  6. The only way to get this changed is to make our voice heard. Email him, start a poll get others to do the same. Atleast lower the age some. A 6 year old should be able to handle Lake Ontario fish as long as they have done it before. I can see not having full divisions because of the cheating that used to go on. Do something simple like pass out trophies and fishing tackle. Avon Anglers ice derbies lets kids enter and gives every kid that participates a piece of icefishing equipment. All kids get a raffle ticket at each derby and they draw a ticket at the last derby for an ice tent. Kids are the future of this fishery. We NEED them involved.

Trying to sell stuff so you can pay Yankee Troller after the shootout?
  8. Both have thier pros and cons. I stay away from singles because they seem to come right out of the eye on smaller fish (mostly small steelies).
  9. Nice job Pete. The fish Gods will repay your for springing into action. Now if we could only get you to like a better Football team!
  10. It is not just the Sodus Pro Am. The Sandy Creek Shootout has the same curse. We are greated with East winds, rain, and waterspouts!
  11. The bite is best from 9 to 4. Low light hours, there are fewer along the bottom and more up higher in the water column feeding on alewives.
  12. Strictly for entertainment purposes! Every year can't be like 2012 Keith!
  13. Gizzard shad. The crew on my boat likes to try to catch them with the net on the way out in the morning.
  14. That is the reason I have 1 kid!
  15. Congrats guys! Is Hambley going back into hibernation now?
  16. Fished with 33Canuck and Lund sss yesterday trying to find a slob laker. Trolled for 4 hours and 45 minutes and put 57 lakers, 2 steelies and one king on the floor of the boat. Tons of 8-12lb lakers with the biggest 2 in the mid 17lb range. We put out 7 color and a 10 color off of boards and put the steelies and the king in the boat. The lakers are everywhere depth and location wise. The 2 17lbers were not weighed in because we are confident they will not stay on the board this derby.
  17. Get new team mates! I have tried everything and nothing works! I found the electric fly swatter makes for good entertainment but still does not deter them!
  18. A slider is another spoon on a 6' or so leader that is clipped to the main line above the down rigger release. You put the first spoon back of the release, clip it in the release, let it dow to the desired depth, take your slider (6' leader with a swivel on both ends) clip it on the main line to the rod and throw it overboard. The slider will slide down the line roughly halfway to the rigger (depends on how tight you tighten the rod down).
  19. LOL.
  20. Let's bump this back to the top since a laker COULD be leading the summer LOC right now!
  21. It was 31.11 lbs according to the LOC website! Awesome fish. Congrats to the angler.
