Thanks Rob and Dave. Looks like I will be making a road trip this week.

Anyone know of a tackle shop that sells them in the Rochester area? Looking to purchase a couple.
-
My question is how will it deloy over 2 wire divers? With the sink rate more, I would think you would have more issues when divers are out 250 plus and you are running long coppers. If it is an issue, I will stick with the 45lb.
-
If proper knots are tied, there are no issues. I have been running coppers this way for years with ZERO issues.
-
You should clip to the backing. I splice in 6' of 50lb floro or mono. Releases will hold better on mono or floro over backing.

The scuppers that were on my boat are gone. I had them filled in and my water drains to the bilge. If you have a reliable bildge pump + a back up, you should have no worries. Another way to keep the rain water out is a canvas that covers the entire back of the boat.

I have 3 weigh points in my GPS that have produced for years. One of my late summer king staging weigh points turned into my #1 laker weigh point last year. I used to go through my gps every season and write down every weigh point and it's coordinates after every season. If the GPS died or got replaced, I could go back in a replce them.

It is a free launch. Boarder Patrol is there all the time. More than likely happened early in the am. -
LOC derby format changes poll
GAMBLER replied to GAMBLER's topic in Tournament Talk, Shows, Events & Seminars
Jeb, I have been fishing Lake Ontario for 29 years and I have caught a lot of kings over 30lbs in that time frame. I have only caught one Lake Trout over 30lbs with TONS of hours trolling lakers in the lake trout rich waters from Sandy Creek to Irondequoit Bay. You are spot on. Lake Ontario should be promoted as the ONLY body of water East of the Mississippi that you have the chance of catching a 35lb king, 30lb lake trout, 25lb brown trout, 20lb steelhead, 20lb coho and a 15lb atlantic. Instead we have a narrow minded approach and crap on the species that hold the fishery together on bad king fihsing years. Dave Chilson told me in an email that he is doing it to promote the salmon fishery, perserve the lake trout fishery (more 20lb lakers were killed this spring derby than the last 5 fall derbies combined) and because 60% of the przie money went to 5 different boats in the last fall derby. He also told me the Counties West of Rochester want to promote the salmon fishery because Lake Ontario is one of the only healthy salmon fisheries in the US. If you look back through the tourney section you will find the email posted in one of my posts. The only way to get this changed is to let Dave know how you feel about it. Send him an email. -

5/3, 5/5, and 5/7 out of Sandy

I think it is stupid that more 20lb lakers were killed in the 2013 spring derby so far than the last 5 years worth of Fall derbies combined yet the Fall Derby gets the chop! Does not sound like Dave is trying to "help perserve the lake trout fishery" like he stated in his email. -
Fishing has been tough but getting better. I'm all done with the spring derby for the spring due to my work schedule. On Saturday we fished 200 -250 East of the creek and did 1 king, 1 steelhead and 7 lakers. Most were taken on boards with a 2 color. The king and 2 lakers were taken on the 500 copper. Monday was horrible. Fished the same water and did 1 king, 1 steelhead and 4 lakers. All spoon bite from the surface to 100 down. The king came down 100 on a mag purple pounder. Yesterday, we headed a little further East in 180 - 225 and found good green water with a 4 degree temp difference. Did 2 kings, one 5lber and a 20lber. 35 to 50 down was best. After the bite slowed, we fished lakers putting 23 on the floor in 2 hours. In the 3 trips, we could not top an 18lb laker or a 20lb king. We had a very long steelhead over 32" but it was super skinny! It would have been a 12lber if it had put weight back on. Good luck to everyone in the rest of the LOC.

Left the dock at 6am on Saturday morning with clear skies and light winds. Hit the end of the creek and ran a mile East and set up in 12 fow. The water had cleared up overnight. We decided to try the inside waters anyways. After a short troll, we got a release on the 9' rigger. After a good battle, we slipped the net under a 14lb brown to start the season. In the next hour we only had 2 more releases only landing one of the two. We decided to run out to the laker grounds and put some slime on the floor. We ended up putting 14 lakers in the boat between 4 and 15lbs. It ended up being a decent trip. Picks to come tomorrow when I have more time to upload them.

It is still there. It is submerged. 2 people hit it this weekend. -
Interdex. I just used it on my floor and it is awesome. Hard as a rock, easy too clean and the perfect amount of non skid.
