  1. I use 50lb power pro. I would not want to lose the entire length of my wire, a diver, flasher and a fly. Go with the safe bet and run 50lb power pro.
  2. For stickbaits, Fire tiger, Black and silver, and black and gold are three of the best colors for sticks. Natural colors in clear water and bright stuff in green water. Most of the same colors for spoons will work all year. NBK is one of my best all around spoons during the season.
  3. You only buy stickbaits in 3's? I find this hard to believe!
  4. Bob is a busy guy. He will get back to you. Look at his site and you will see all the spoons. I have never had an issue with him getting back to me.
  5. I use the clippers too. Go one step further and line your plainer reels will 200lb Power pro. They zip right down the line.
  6. I'm all for bringing back the natural fish along side the current Pacific Salmon and trout as long as they do not try to cut the current stockings to make room. It makes the fishery more diverse. I really enjoy catching big Atlantics in the boat. Is the Oak a good place to be putting Atlantics? More than likely not. The snagger/lifter fest in the fall Salmon run, No DEC presence or ticket writing (because deer hunting seems to be more important) warm temps in the summer and low water in the fall. I would think they would focus more on a trib like Irondequoit Creek that has water that sustains a trout population year round. If the return rates were better, I would back this 100%.
  7. I got some numbers from this site about stocking numbers for Atlantics in Canada. Check it out yourself. http://www.lakeontariofishingforum.com/8-AtlanticSalmonProgram.pdf 2008 - less than 300,000 2009 - 750,000 2010 - 900,000 Returns to the Credit River 2008 - 49 2009 - 75 2010 - 200 Getting better but poor returns for sure. The link above shows they stock fry, fall fingerlings and spring yearlings also. We stock 1.51 million kings and look at the returns we get. The only trib on the South shore that gets a run in the summer is the salmon river. Why waste the time and resources for a fishery that is not drawing many anglers and only to one place?
  8. A couple hundred caught at the Oak? Sounds a little far fetched to me. Most people can't tell the difference between a brown and an atlantic. You hear of a couple caught every year at the Oak. That couple gets stretched to a bunch. There are even rare occasions where one is caught in other small west side tribs. These occasions are very rare.
  9. They all work well. I run Cannons and love them. They are 9 years old and still running awesome. It is like Ford, Chevy, Dodge. If you want simple quality riggers, go with Scotty. If you want quality riggers with many features, go with Cannon.
  10. Monroe County does not promote the fishery at all. Orleans, Wayne, Niagara and so on promote it well. Monroe County could care less.
  11. 2 to 3000 fish returned for 600,000 stocked over the last couple years is pretty poor IMO. Why bother wasting the $ and resources for poor returns?
  12. I was reading some data on Atlantic returns a while ago on Spoonpullers about the Credit and I would not call the returns significant by any means.
  13. Can anyone get me the link for the website that tells what is classified as an assualt rifle in NY now? way too much stuff to go through to find it.
  14. 3 rods per person is the rule. If they did not give you a ticket for the 4th rod, you were lucky.
  15. I would stay away from Trackers. There are notorious for having hull leaking issues. I would stick with one of the other brands you mentioned.
  16. Dicks Sporting goods in Greece has some big ones. The hoop was 48". They were only $62.99
  17. PM coming Matt
  18. I looked at the traps but they are way too expensive for me. Hammerhead Cowbells works awesome so I will stick with them. Spin N Glows and peanuts will work fine behind them if you do make the purchase Matt.
  19. I still stack once and a while if I have enough guys in the boat to put extra rods out. The key to keeping them tangle free is rod holder placement. Stacking works best in the transition times of the year when fish are scattered at different depths. Try stacking a rod and put a cheater on the top rod. You are covering 20' of the water column with 1 rigger.
  20. Ncie Job Matt! NIce meeting you Saturday. How was the channel to the lake?
  21. Nice report Rick. Glad to see the slobs are around already. Come on spring!
  22. Sounds like the drag washers are shot. They will start to show those symptoms before they go. If they are stored with the drags not backed off in the off season, the life will be shortened.
  23. Looking like a land slide here.
