  1. It is freeze dried and salted. I still brine mine. They are really firm and hold up better than other brands.
  2. Nice report Rick. It is amazing how those deformed kings still manage to feed enough to surivive. Congrats on the derby king.
  3. It does peak soon and gets a little better. Today they were horrible.
  4. Congrats on the steelie and once again, awesome live reports. Keep up the good work.
  5. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:Escape ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):6/24 Time on Water:530 Weather/Temp: beautiful Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: Surface Temp: 71 Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: ? Total Boated:? Species Breakdown:4 Kings, 1 steelhead and tons of lakers Hot Lure: Spin n glow Trolling Speed:1.3 - 2.7 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 95 - 280 Lure Depth: KINGS / STEELHEAD - 65 - 100 DOWN LAKER - BOTTOM ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Fished silvers until 930 and put one laker, 4 kings (3 teenagers one jumbo skipper) and one steelhead in the boat. After a slow pick, we decided to fish lakers. Ran down to my usual weigh points and could not keep 2 rods down for 2 1/2 hours. Ended up putting the leading laker and the third place laker on the board. Hammerhead cowbells with my custom spin n glows did the trick. I will upload a pick of Kurt (Canuck33) and Keith (Tessier) with their chickens tomorrow.
  6. I have not tried the flea strippers but the Erie Dearie cutbait is awesome. It works the same as the other brands but lasts a couple fish instead of getting ripped to pieces after one fish.
  7. I'm in the opposite boat. I perfer the roller rods over twillie and regular guides. Super smooth reeling in fish and a tripped dipsey.
  8. Good luck the smallmouth population is low. I would look on the strructure off of Devils Nose or all the way down to Wautoma Shoals. Look in 30 - 60 fow. The bass have been caught a lot deeper than the past.
  9. Come on Scott, there is no way you will fit in a 2X. Who do you plan on putting in that shirt with you?
  10. That is why she lets him fish 6 out of 7 days of the week!
  11. No but the channel is 1' deep already. Come on winter!
  12. Scott, You have to run them to catch fish on them!
  13. With the size of the kings this year, I would not be worried about it. A 26.5 might not be on the board by the end.
  14. Thanks Greg. We will try for sure.
  15. The guy was local but used it in salt. Ethanol destroyed the fuel lines in the motor. The fuel smelled really weird and was a very weird yellow color.
  16. He was working on 2 of them this spring with a fuel issues when I was working on my boat. They were on the back of a 28' grady. Give him a shout .
  17. Has been, If you stay at Blind Sodus again, Head West out of the channel and look for the Trench in 25 fow. It is just past the Red cottage near the bluff on the West side of the bay in the lake. LOTS of smallies on the drop to the trench. My father stayed in Blind Sodus Bay until this fall at Holiday Harbor. They did really well of smallmouth out there last year all season. They even did some walleye .
  18. Shawn, Thanks. Maybe a couple days of stable weather and that will change. John, We will do it again soon. I will let you know.
  19. Just spend the $ and have a survey done. Spending the $ now when you are dumping a lot of green on a boat will save you $ and headaches in the future.
  20. Congrats on the leading King Jeremy.

Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:Escape ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):6/16/12 Time on Water:530 Weather/Temp:HOT Wind Speed/Direction: NONE Waves: NONE Surface Temp:65 degrees Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: ? Total Boated: 4 kings, 2 steelhead and 20+ lakers Species Breakdown: Lakers, kings and Steelhead Hot Lure: Spin n glow and Green crinkle fly Trolling Speed: 2.4 for silvers and 1.3 for lakers Down Speed: Boat Depth: 90 - 275 Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Fished with Duckman1, Tessier and JR from LOU on Saturday and had a good day. Fished kings for the first couple hours and did a couple with some bonus steelhead. Spent the rest of the day farming and put a mess of lakers in the boat. Had one laker ripping drag like a king and we thought we had a 20+ but it only ended up being a 15 and change. After releasing a king, I looked over the side of the boat and noticed we had a hitch hiker stuck to the hull. There was a 20+ inch lamprey eel trying to suck the bottom paint off the boat. I tried got get him in the boat but he swam away without getting the knife. Kings are all over. There is nothing really concentrated. The 4 kings we took came at 4 different depths (40 down, 50 down, 80 down and 90 down). Hopefully we can get some stable weather and things will set up even better than they are already.

  23. this is why you should never try to duplicate what someone said over the radio. His reels and rigger counters may be different than yours and you willl not get the same outcome.
  24. Every captain does things a little different. My opinion, take a couple trips with a coulple captains. You will learn a lot of little things that you would over look from each one. Not the cheapest route but you can learn a lot.
  25. Buy the best you can afford. If you can afford a $200.00 reel, buy a Daiwa Saltist 30. If you can't, go with a Daiwa Sealine sg47lca or sg47lcx.
