  1. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:Escape ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):7/17/11 Time on Water:515 am Weather/Temp: WAY TOO HOT FOR MY LIKING! Wind Speed/Direction: SW 10-15 Waves: 1-2' Surface Temp: 73 degrees Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: ? Total Boated:? Species Breakdown:Kings, coho, lakers, and steelhead Hot Lure: any white flasher with a green fly Trolling Speed: Down Speed: 2.5 mph Boat Depth: 90 - 175 Lure Depth: 35 - 70 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Fished with Gator and my buddy Ryan this morning. Started off in 110 and it was crazy right out of the gate. Lots really nice kings in the teens and 20's. We did one coho, a couple lakers and a couple steelhead. Had a huge rip on the 300 copper and it almost spooled us until we got turned. After a long battle, we boated a 25lb king hooked in the dorsal fin . Another great trip out of Sandy. Congrats too all the people that placed in the LOC derby.
  2. Very nice king.
  3. I use Spros and Sampos. Cheap swivels will not hold up to the abuse of wire divers.
  4. Sometimes it is hard to tell what port they are fishing at also. If the map part is showing them on shore it is useless. Some of the captains go west in the spring and their home port is east. It gives a false sense of where they are doing fish.
  5. Lots of variables in this. Boat speed, brand of diver, brand of wire, diameter of wire, and brand of reel make a difference. A general rule for divers is a 3 to 1 ratio for depth on a 2 setting.
  6. Hammertime, Live wire and the white w/green dot are my three favorites. I use the more action hole. THere is a diagram on the back of the package they come in. The #1 fly in my boat is the green crinkle Atommik. Hammer, green hammer, green hypnotist and the net pen fly are some of my favorite flies from Atommik. All flashers / dodgers produce. Some days other brands work better and some days spin doctors work better. Run a couple in your spread and let the fish tell you what they want.
  7. Thanks Shawn.
  8. Like bobsboy said, use another swivel. Make sure it is a QUALITY swivel. I would buy some SPRO or Sampo swivels.
  9. camo521, Like Keith said, this format does not give charter boats and edge. This format has been used at the Pro Ams, Oak orchard 3 fish derbies and other derbies around the lake. Lots of times rec guys beat out charter captains. Putting 4 BIG fish in the cooler is a tough task captain or not. Just because a captian is out every day does not give him that much of an edge. Things change on the big lake EVERY minute. Here today gone tomorrow. You just got to be able to adjust to what mother nature and Lake Ontario throws at you.
  10. No problem Scott. I totally understand. Just when you thought you could relax, all hell broke loose again.
  11. Nice report Scott. Sounds like our day. See you this weekend.
  12. Thanks guys. Sandy has been on fire the past 3 weeks. Hopefully this holds up for the Shootout! See you guys on the water.
  13. Sounds like the triducer is not working. See if you can find someone with another probe to try or the same unit.
  14. Adam, I run Gander Mountain guides series 8' leadcore rods and love them. I tried that same rod and it was a little on the light side.
  15. Thanks for this Andy. I commented on your picture because it looked really good. I will try it this weekend. How long did you cook it for?
  16. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:Escape ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):7/10/11 Time on Water:530 am - 11:30 Weather/Temp:hot and humid Wind Speed/Direction:sw 5-10 Waves: 1' to flat calm Surface Temp: 71 Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: a lot Total Boated:a lot Species Breakdown: Kings, coho, steelies and laker Hot Lure: green crinkle fly Trolling Speed: Down Speed: 2.5 Boat Depth: 90 - 320 Lure Depth: 40 - 90 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Started the morning inside and temp had come up a lot. Trolled North hitting fish all the way out to 320 fow. The fish were very scattered but one you found a group it was choas. Ended up landing a 24 and change king, a 11lb steelie and a 16.06 laker that is sitting in 18th place. The hot combo was the old standby "trash can" dodger with a green crinkle Atommik fly. Lots of decent steelies, teenaged kings and a nice coho.
  17. Nice job Shawn. I almost spit my coffee out reading about Tom's pb lake trout. Did you capture that with a camera?
  18. Nice job Bill. Did Keith tell you about the new weapon I added to the lake trout program?
  19. You can not be on plane within 200' of shore or another boat correct? They could have slowed down after speeding up and communicated with the boat. No excuse for running around the boat on plane. I understand they are doing there jobs but there is the right and wrong ways to do things.
  20. 42 degrees for mature kings. 48 - 54 degrees for numbers of kings.
  21. I just replaced an interstate in my boat last season after 8 seasons of abuse.
  22. I told my wife the other day that I did not have any other colors to choose from. She gave me this evil stare and said Bullsh*t.
  23. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:Escape ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== /D/ate(s):7/6/11 Time on Water:1030 Weather/Temp:Sunny to thunderstorms Wind Speed/Direction: west 5 - 10 Waves:1' Surface Temp: 71 degrees Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 20 Total Boated:14 Species Breakdown:Kings, Cohos, steelhead, lakers, a brown and an atlantic. Hot Lure: Green Crinkle Trolling Speed: Down Speed: 2.5 - 2.7 Boat Depth: 140 Lure Depth: 70 - 90 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== My wife and I left the dock at 1030 and headed out to 140 FOW. Steady marks and fish all the way from the nose to Wautoma Shoals. Did the Lake Ontario cycle with every species of trout and salmon you can catch. The last one we needed for the cycle ended up putting Melissa in 8th place in the steelhead division. The fish hit a green crinkle A-tom-mik fly behind a hammertime spin doctor down 85'. At the scales it came in at 13.00lbs. It was a short trip due to lightning but we got a lot of fish to the boat in that short time. Almost every time one rod went off, we ended up doubled. Tons of upper teens kings and low 20's kings around. Back out this weekend. I will post the picture later. Here is the pic of my wife's steelhead.
  24. Nice report chowder! What is that caserole? Looks good!
