  3. I really like running my 2 copper, 4 dipsy, 3 rigger spread. Most times I can not get enough guys during the week to go so I can run my program. I don't want to get caught breaking the law so I abide by the laws. I really would love it if the DEC allowed us salmon guys to run 3 rods.

    hard top

Nice work Big easy. Are you making a custom hard top?
  5. I was wondering how many people would be in favor of a 3 rod per person limit on Lake O. I know Lake Michigan has it.

    pike leaders

Carpedium, I use 30 lb. Mason Tip up line. The 30 or 40 is what I have found heavy enough to not get bitten off by large toothy critters. I use a Sampo swivel between the tip up line and the leader.

    pike leaders

I hear you on that one. I tried walking on Braddocks the other day after duck hunting. 1 1/2" with some open holes scattered all over. Not long as long as the weather cooperates.

    pike leaders

I run 3' leaders. I have not tried shorter (unless I was fishing Braddocks).
  9. Spoonfed-1, Before ripping the impeller out, check the line that comes out of the engine back to the block. I had a spider make a nest in my old outboard and the smae thing happened. Cleaned it out and I was good to go.

    pike leaders

Cheers, 30 or 40 lb. Seagar is great pike leader material. I have been using it the past couple seasons and getting more flags on pressured bodies of water.
  11. That's intersting. I don't know how many times last season on Sandy, I fished a pool that was just hammered for hours by 2 guys with pin rods and brown sacks and pick a bunch of fish out of the pool after they said they had not caught a fish in an hour. Lots of times the trout get keyed in on single eggs. When this happens, sacks are not going to catch as many fish.
  12. IMO Trout eggs work but not worth the hassle. You can have a sloppy drift and fish will still take them. Nothing beats a properly dead drifted glow bug in the correct size and color. Me, I can't see going through the hassle of curing eggs when a glow bug takes seconds to tie and works just as good if not better if fished correctly. I also can't see killing a trout for eggs to catch more trout? It does not make sense to me. If you are keeping them to eat or giving them to someone else to eat, I see nothing wrong with keeping eggs.
  13. Nice boat. Looks brand new. Good luck with it.
  14. Here is a link to the Syracuse icefishing show. http://www.agievents.com/shows/display. ... c=&sfid=73
  15. Sorry for your loss Bob.

  17. Stan, Have you ever tried J-plugs? How big are these land locked kings?
  18. Thanks for that visual Tom. I will be skipping lunch now
  19. Rob, Cohos?
  20. Rob, The guy on Center Rd in Kendall is no longer doing it anymore. Sorry.
  21. Rob, There is a guy out on Center Rd in Kendall. His name is Howard. He is just South of RT 18. I will get you the phone number and post it later today.
  22. Chinook, What is it about? Youtube is blocked for me at work.
  23. carv0, I hear ya on the bait cost. I spend a fortune on bait during the icefishing season. It sucks but it is here to stay. I was just as upset when it first happened. After seeing the die off of walleyes on Conesus (my favorite icefishing lake), it made me rethink what I thought about the regulations.
  24. I do not fish the Pro Ams because of the cost of traveling, gas, docking fees, and lodging. I'm looking at fishing at least one this summer with my buddy. I have mentioned this before but everyone jumped all over me, add a Monroe County Pro am. This way more of the Rochester area guys that can't afford to trailer their boats and pay for lodging could enter. I know this will screw up the lake cup but I think it would get more people to enter that had not entered before. I would do it in a heart beat. I have read the rules and agree with most. I don't really like the no cull rule for the earlier tournies. I think a cooler full of skippers makes for a less competitive tourney. It makes it more competitive when you have to make the decision to throw it in the cooler for points or throw it back and risk a limit.
  25. Mike, Diver rods are made to support the weight (pull) of a dispey diver. As for line, I would go with 1000' of 30lb stainless steel wire. I prefer Malin brand wire. You can also use Mason brand wire. The spools run around $50.00. Mono will not get you deep enough in the summer time for the most part.
