  1. I have run these before. In my opinion, the regular ones work better. Yes I know it is a pain in the butt to reel in the fish with all the gear but you have to go with what works the best. I do think they would work good for bringing kings into your spread.
  2. I do something slightly different. The only thing I do different is use a dipsey that is released. Let all of the wire out and reel it back in.
  3. One thing to watch with the Scotty's is the clutch lever. If they are mounted at the right hight and you hit the button to bring the ball up, It can hit you in the nuggets. I had this happen on a buddies boat. Me personally I do not like the Scotty's. I'm a firm believer in you pay for what you get. I have 4 Cannons on my boat (2 mag 20's and 2 mag 15's). The are super fast and reliabe. I don't like the fact that the Scotty's are belt driven. What do you do if a belt breaks? Another thing is the auto stop on the Scotty's. You have to place beeds on the cable. If you get weeds in the beeds, it will break the antena on your Moor subtroll (if you run the subtroll). The cannons auto stop without stupid beeds on your cable. I'm also a firm beliver in the positive ion control.
  4. Does anyone else keep getting an error message stating: Invalid session please resubmit?
  5. Here is a link from the spoonpullers site: http://spoonpullers.proboards42.com/ind ... 1175525939
  6. They have some at the NK sale. Try Northern King sale. Check it out at northernkinglures.com.
  7. I made it over to the NK sale today. What a deal on spoons. The spoons w/o hooks were $1.50 and the spoons w/ hooks were $1.75. They had every size spoon out. I baught 4d's, 28's, mags, and M-80's. They also had a bunch of overstock tapes. I ended up buying 44 new spoons. There were 2 guys there that drove all the way from Ottawa Canada for the sale. I highly recommend getting there A.S.A.P.
  8. Barnacle, I'm selling 2 Accudepth 47lc's. They are different than the SG47LC's. I have 2 SG27LC's for sale in a different post. If you are interested, e-mail at [email protected].
  9. I have 2 Diawa SG27LC's for sale. Both reels in great condition. Asking $65 each or both for $120. LOCAL DELIVERY OR PICK UP ONLY!
  10. You might want to put hooks on that flasher. Kings have been caught on NK M80's and they are bigger than that flasher.
  11. 40 lb. Powerpro is what I have on my 10 color core.
  12. The population is down. It is from the stocking problems and fishing pressure. The waters off of Rochester used to be covered with schools of lakers. Now you have to work to find them. If you put in your time and know locations that have held good numbers in the past, you can find them.
  13. I think mine are 36". The Hammerhead blades, and the Northern King blades come ready to fish.
  14. Read it today. Nice article BillyV!
  15. Some of the pike are in and gone. The walleyes are just starting to enter the creek.
  16. Wire is a great way to catch fish. If you are getting into it I would recommend the Precision Trollers Big Water Edition. It has charts that tell you how deep your dipsys are running. The rod will not come out of the rod holder as long as you have a good rod holder. I use the Big John Rod holders (there are many other good brands, just make sure they are very sturdy). As for rigs, I love running flashers and flies behind my dipsys all season. I do run spoons from time to time. I find Mag spoons are better to run off of wire dipsys due to running heavier leader because I don't use a snubber. Also make sure you are using a reel with a good drag. Tekotas and Diawa SG47LC's are good reels. For wire, I use the Malin 7 strand 30 lb. wire. Good luck and have fun watching your kids eyes light up when that first king is ripping wire off of your reel.
  17. Yankee, You have some brown stuff on your nose!
  18. 2- Diawa Accudepth 47LC's with a full spool (900') of Ande 30lb. pink line. They were brand new July of 2006. Just Purchased 2 new SG47LC's so I'm getting rid of 2 Accudepths. $30.00 each 2- 8'6" Diawa Heartland rods rigged with a twillie tip. Use them for small wire dipsy rods. Never used them so I'm going to sell them. $10.00 each 1- Gander Mountain Guide Series 10' dipsy rod w/ twillie tip. I used this rod for a thumper rod. I'm selling it because I rarely used it and I think it is a little light for a dipsy rod. $10.00 Local Delivery or pick up only. Will only take cash or money order.
  19. Jerry, Were you a little lost down at I-bay? Nice job on the browns.
  20. Thanks Steve. I'm ready to go drop some more cash. Hopefully they will be in stores soon.
  21. For my spring brown rods, I use 12 lb. Maxima for the main line to a 10 lb. Seagar leader. I have been using the Maxima for years and love it.
  22. Nice Sturgeon Billy. What was the weight on the biggest one?
  23. I'm going with Olcott. I think the winner will be around 26.5. The winning laker will be 21lb, steelhead 16 lbs, and brown around 14 lbs. We will see how this pans out.
