I would challenge this statement. Monroe County is under promoted and does not have a huge fleet of boats. Ever see any advertisement for Monroe County fishing? Wayne County Tourism does a great job of promoting the fishery. Monroe County could care less about the fishery. Sandy is a tiny port now that the one marina is closed, Ibay doesn't have a lot of guys compared to the years the Newport House was open, Braddocks has a handful of regulars and the River has a decent charter fleet. I would be willing to bet Sodus Bay, Hughes, Pultneyville has pretty close to the same number of fishing boats than Monroe county. With Wrights Marina closed in Oswego, there has been a bunch of captains and rec anglers that migrated to Sodus and Hughes this season too. Monroe County waters are also stocked with 106,879 Browns compared to 48,720 browns (2018 stocking data).

After the west blow, I'm not sure how deep the thermal cline got pushed down. There was a pod of kings in 90' and 225-300 last weekend. Lakers were in 110 - 120 in good numbers. Browns were in 40-45'. It has all more than likely changed. As I sit here typing this on the lake at work, its a little sporty out there for a 16' boat.

The Rochester basin is an amazing brown fishery every year! IMO, there isn't a better summer brown fishery than the Monroe County waters on Lake Ontario. Look at the past three years in the summer LOC. The Rochester basin has dominated the leaderboard.

If there is a wind and the boat is slipping slightly sideways and you deploy a copper on the wrong side of the boat, you will drop the copper right into the dipsy on deployment. Another issue is letting them out too fast and then sending them out to the board without letting them settle back.

Olcott. With the border closed, you can fish the bar and to the East. Olcott, you can fish both East and West. More options without a big fuel bill.

Lakers migrate East in late May leaving very few in the Olcott area. There is a good population on the bar at this time of the year. 120' seems to be the most consistent depth for me off of Sandy but I'm not sure about the bar area. Find water colder than 45 degrees on the bottom. The bigger fish will be in water from 39-45 degrees when they are on the bottom. If you fish warmer than 45 degrees, you will get lakers but mostly small ones.

Thanks Mike. Sandy offers some of the best waters for Lakers and Browns on the entire lake. It is such a great but underrated port! We capitalize on the bite when the conditions are perfect for those two species and it has worked well for us! Its tough to give up a couple trips in the short season for kings but we get over it! I was a little worried he wouldn't like fishing for a while. He showed way more interest in hunting. The last two years, he has really started to show way more interest in the lake trolling. Now that he is LOC eligible, his interest is rising. He placed 3rd in the Orleans County Rotary derby lake trout division the past two years. He really gets a kick out of getting paid to fish!

Saturday he reeled in 21 of the browns we boated. This morning he reeled in a ton of lakers. The kid is a machine! SSSSSHHHHHHHHHH!!!! 19.13 and 16.05.

They only work on Kings Billy. Big kings!

Had a game plan of fishing lakers for a couple hours for the LOC. After a late night at work, we left the dock at 6:45 and headed to the laker grounds. We were met with flat seas and disgusting heat! The laker bite was great for the 2.5 hours we fished. Gambler Rigs behind Death Traps and Hammerhead cowbells put fish in the boat all morning. We plucked lakers from 100' -130 right on the bottom. My usual weigh points were dry due to heavy currents and we found the bigger lakers on the flats not the structure. At the end of the morning, we put two fish on the LOC leaderboard.
