  5. 17 is the biggest I have caught. Lots of under 5 lbs over the years. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. They can be run behind Flashers, Dodgers, cowbells, Grease Traps, or clean. Double spin n glo rigs out produce singles. If Fat Nancys had double rigs, you should have gone with those. Double rigs have more action and lakers can't resist them. I prefer cowbells trolled slow within 5' of the bottom and slower than 1.8mph.
  7. Lots of big changes this year. They are also dropping a couple pen projects (Sandy Creek, Sodus, Wilson and Fair Haven) but adding another in Black River which doesn't make sense.....
  8. The 34 we caught in 2012 was kept on ice all day the day we caught it for the Orleans County Rotary Derby awards ceremony, frozen for a couple weeks and thawed for the LOC awards ceremony and still looked fresh. Hopefully it will not be a nightmare for the taxidermist. If they dry out, it makes for a tougher job for the taxidermist. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Big laker but why does it look like it’s been dead for days? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  12. I believe he is talking about the Rome Hatchery zebra mussel issue. I believe that hatchery supplies the Adirondacks not Southern Tier. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. The key to this method is a good sharp knife.
  14. I would choose the 1000 islands. We camp at Burnham Point state park or Cedar Point state park. Shore fishing for bass and perch is decent. There are boat rental available too!
  15. Google pike fileting videos. I tried the five cut method and did not like it. I still got the tips of the pin bones in the top filet. I can't remember what the method above is called but its great.
  16. That is the method I use to clean pike. Its the least waste method you can use for pike!
  17. You are not far off! I learned in my criminal justice classes in college that most crime happens between 73 - 78 degrees! I would also attribute less crime in Canada to less big cities. Most of Canada is open country.
  18. Bigger hooks weigh more and could affect action.
  19. I stick with the same size. Instead of taking hooks off, I bend the hooks closed to they cant foul hook the fish. I feel taking hooks off may cause the stickbait to run different.
  20. This might do some good! https://www.whec.com/rochester-new-york-news/shipping-season-delayed/5657247/?cat=565
  21. With high water levels, do some homework before coming. A lot of ports closed marinas and launches!
  22. They are decent hooks but break at the weld. Check out Blood Run trebles. They are the hook I settled on for Gambler Rigs. Super sharp and durable hooks.
  23. Red turns brown past 8' in water. There was an article in the In-fishermen magazine that showed what colors showed up down to certain depths.
  24. You can get a good airbrush for cheap. The paints are inexpensive too!
