November 18 pm 37 degrees S wind 5 mph Cloudy Pretty slow until after 4 this afternoon. Saw a deer I couldn't indentify in the bedding and had a small buck made his way by me around 430. Quiet night for my kid on stand up until 430 or so. He had some deer in the thick stuff never show themselves. A decent doe popped out of the corn and gave him an opportunity so he took it. Headed back in the woods now. My kid shot a doe at dusk. Decent blood trail but figure we should give it a bit. Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
November 18 am 30 degrees S wind 5 mph Cloudy Crunchy walk in this morning. Every deer in the county probably knew we were there. No where near the shooting that was heard yesterday. Deer just weren't moving. One deer seen running across the field and that would be it for us all morning. Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
Never experienced the woods this quiet before. It seems almost impossible. I could hear a squirrel fart from 200 yards. Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
If it wasn't day two of the shotgun season I would have just went home. Very crunchy walk in. First gun shot today was at 639. Not a ton of shooting so far. The woods is quiet. Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
November 17 pm 36 degrees W wind 5-20 Cloudy Occasional flurries Pretty slow afternoon sit. I heard a ton of shooting all the way up to 515. A doe and 4 fawns is all I saw and they showed up around 445. Did get to witness a button buck vs button buck sparring match. Might have been the worst fight ever. Lol. Settled in for the pm. A million deer tracks on this property also since the snow on Friday. I could hear gun shots from my truck when I got here at two. The orange army is in full force today. Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
November 17am - gun opener 36 degrees SW wind 5-15 Cloudy I was amazed at the amount of tracks that I saw on my way in this morning. We got 4-5" of snow early Friday morning and the deer have been on the move. Check the camera and it certainly confirmed the evidence that was left behind. Typical number of shots heard on an opening day. At times it literally sounds like a war is happening in the neighboring county. My kid and I are both on a buck mission so the flatheads got a pass today. I did have a encounter with a decent buck. Took me a minute to realize that he was missing half his rack. It had broke off just above his brow tine. His lucky day. He gets a free pass for 2018. Below is a pic from the other day of him. Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
Good luck to everyone tomorrow morning. Be safe and shoot straight. Snow on the ground and looks like we should have some decent weather, should be a solid day. Fingers are crossed that my kid has some luck. Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
November 16 am 34 degrees SE wind 5mph Cloudy skies Final sit for me for the bow season. SE wind had me in a spot I haven't been in all year. Overnight we got 4-5" inches of snow. Didn't have high hopes this morning and I never saw a deer or even a fresh track. Pulled the card for the first time from a camera there and it shows a few studs. I heard it also. I'm south of you a mile. You win the punctuality award today. I thought I was early but I drove past your truck before 6 and you must of already headed in. Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
