  4. October- Friday the 13th 64 degrees SE wind 5mph becoming sw 5 mph Partly cloudy Crazy sit yesterday pm. I got there late (5pm) and there were already deer in the field. 16+ deer including 6 bucks. One giant, one shooter, one possible shooter. Witnessed some chasing by small bucks and some sparring by two young bucks. Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  6. Found this on my way out. It may not look like much and the photos might not do it justice but it looks like two bucks battled it out. All the high grass is knocked down and the ground is all tore up. Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. October 12 pm 59 degrees East wind 5-9 mph Partly cloudy skies Not my wind of choice. I don't have many sets that work for an East wind so I was limit to where I could sit tonight. Just 2- 1.5 year old bucks seen from the stand tonight. Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  9. The two obvious things that come to mind are... Change in desired food sources? The other is now that they are all hard horned, those bachelor groups are breaking up and bucks are just doing their own thing. They are probably still there. 14. October 10 pm 77 degrees Variable wind (forcast 7 mph nw) Mostly sunny Another terribly hot sit. Lots of active does and fawns. Saw 14. One small buck also. Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. Lots of deer on their feet yesterday afternoon/evening. I had 12 does/fawns in the field along with 3 bucks. Two young bucks along with one stud short tined thick racked ten point. He bumped the does around quite a bit but was very interested in one. He bumped her around the field for over 30 minutes until she finally left the field. Interesting to watch.
  16. Young bucks, yes. Mature bucks, no. Certainly doesnt mean you dont try though. Never leave home without a grunt tube.
  17. Just had a couple of young bucks run out into the field at a hundred miles an hour, chase the two groups of does off the field, run to the opposite end of the field, and exit into the woods. Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. Nw wind has me in a different spot then what I had anticipated. Its 515 and the deer are on their feet. Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  20. Your choices on reel sizes are good except i prefer 300 copper on a 55. If i had my pick i would choose the high speed Okumas all the way. It may not be as noticeable with short coppers but ts a big deal with the longer lengths. Its a lot less work. As for releases, I like Scotty planer board releases for all of my coppers. Long or short it holds them all http://scotty.com/product/no-1177-planer-board-release/). Okuma GLT or Okuma White Diamond copper rods both offer good choice for rod selection. Excessive braid backing may not be needed but it does make it easier to spool and quick work when you are spooling a bunch of reels.
  21. Agreed. If they aren't there then you can shoot them. This is where cameras are huge. We can all scout but cameras imo seem to be a much better way to take inventory of the deer around. Some bucks may be good at avoiding the cameras, so the right location is a must. I have a camera over a community scrape that i found by accident last year. Although not once did a buck visit that scrape while i was in the tree and only twice all season did a buck visit that scrape during daylight hours, it did show me what was around. I have one very hot camera in a spot that i found in the offseason and i have seen 2 different good bucks from that set already this year. One of those 2 bucks i have seen twice while the other just once. As a surprise to many all three sightings have been in the morning between 745-830. Im gonna try to be in that exact spot again tonight!
  22. Good luck to you and your family Guppy.
