Pretty quiet morning with just a single visitor to the stand. I did see a couple of scrapes on the walk out though.

After all the shooting I heard this morning, office don't think there's a duck left in Braddock bay

I think it depends on the time of the year. Early season= a couple of hours on both sunrise and sunset. Rut= as much time as you can spare. I showed up today at 4.

I am also in one of my best stands tonight. Tough to believe, 23 days in and this is the first sit of the year in this set.

A week long hiatus ended with a late plane ride home from Aruba last night. Back at it again this morning. As close to perfect morning as you could ask for.

A nice break from NY until all he'll breaks loose...
The wife and I spent the day offshore of Aruba, somewhere in the middle of Columbia, Venezuela, and Aruba. We chartered the beautiful 53' Hatteras known on the island as "Ola". No luck in our search for billfish but the Mahi kept us busy!

So we are two weeks in and things have been slow. Really no surprise there or at least it shouldnt be. The good news is the woods is certainly a different place then it was 2 weeks ago. That summer pattern seems to be fading fast which typically leads to the October lull. Whether you believe in the lull or not, there seems to always be a lack in the action just before the rut heats things up.
In my favorite stand in Wyoming county tonight. " bedding overlook" stand. An awesome funnel. A hundred foot deep ravine to my right, an alfalfa field to my left, and a huge bedding area behind me.

3 REASONS TO MAKE A MOCK SCRAPE TODAY & HOW TO DO IThttp://wiredtohunt.com/2015/10/12/3-reasons-to-make-a-mock-scrape-today-how-to-do-it/?utm_content=bufferd8839&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer
freaky stuff! Ive been in a few situations myself. Ive been followed in the dark twice. I witness a dog fight 20 yards from my stand with about 13 or so yotes total in the woods. I left the woods armed with a tree branch to use as a bat if needed.
Charlie is a great author and I have read every book of his. I would suggest everyone here local to do the same because he really has a lot of knowledge of the NY deer woods. He has put in his time observing deer and really has a ton of info to share. As for the "moon/ rut predictions".... I dont buy it. I find it very intriguing but my 15 years of record keeping has proved otherwise. As we all know, November continues to be the best bet no matter what date the full moon falls.
