Unfortunately, because of high water temps, we will not be pen rearing our fish this year. At the time the decision was made by the committee, temperature at the pen site was over 61 degrees. Although the short term forcast showed us signs of a cool down, the long term forcasts are showing quite the opposite. The fish destined for pen rearing will now join the direct stocked fished. The steelhead will be stocked next thursday and the chinooks the week after.
45# copper will achieve depths of 20-22' per 100' out at speeds of 2.2-2.4 and with that being said a 450' copper will get you down around 90-100'. You can run everything on coppers. spoons, plugs, paddles, spin doctors. For flashers (big and small) i run 35' of 30# fluoro and for spoons i run 55' of 20# fluoro.
Just like everything else there is a learning curve. A big thing is to deploy the copper slow for the first 50' so it doesnt backlash.
Our fish will be arriving at noon for delivery to the pens (@ the Sandy Creek Marina). Feel free to stop in and lend a hand. We will be moving the pens at 5pm Friday night to the pen site location, We could use 6-10 volunteers on hand to help with this. Let us know if you can be there!

Great advice. It will certainly shorten your learning curve to fish with a captain from your home port. There are a lot of captains willing to teach and also put some fish in the boat.
