  1. Theres a bunch of choices out there and Im using Laurvicks planer board releases http://abatradertrains.com/1-Dozen-Laurvick-TBR-5-Orange-Trolling-Planner-Board-Releases-P515466.aspx
  2. I have 36" tracks w/ Bert's ratcheting rod holders and they have really been great but i will say the Cannon dual axis rod holders are probably the best product out there right now. The dual axis plus the ratcheting is awesome. All of these companies offer great stuff though and you wont be disappointed with any one of them.
  3. Yes its full but Its 45# copper.
  4. I almost called but that was about the time we had our first fish of the night on. I thought i was smiling!
  5. The lake was tough on us tonight and truely forced us to grind out every bite. With the east wind the water was constantly changing before our eyes as we fished it. Alot of mud water in tight and out past 20 fow in some spots. We only found 2 pockets of water that produced for us. 1 was just west of the Cowsucker creek plume and the other was just west of Newmans point. Both spots held 44 degree "green" water. We ended the night with 13 bites total including our first King of the season. Riggers and slide divers loaded with DW SS and big boards dragging stick baits all took fish for us. We boated a Laker, a King, Browns, a Steelhead, and a Coho but still needed an Atlantic for the Lake Ontario slam.

  9. We all seem to agree the best option is to tie direct. It seems to provide the best action on the bait. And I would suggest if your not running leaders i would tie direct. I like to just use a dbl surgeons loop. At this point, I leader all of my rods no matter what my mainline is. I tie my mainline to #3-4 barrel swivel to 12' of fluorocarbon to a #1 size duo lock snap. I went to snaps for ease of use and the fact i was burning through fluoro leaders from retying.
  10. Im using VMC 8540BN #1 & #2 for replacement hooks. Great hook and they wont break the bank
  11. 30# stainless wire is use for diver fishing in place of mono or braid. Copper is something entirely different and is fished like leadcore.
  12. 400-500' of backer is plenty! I run all Okumas. I have Okuma Clarion 553s for my 450 coppers and they only have 300' of braid backer on them. There has been only a couple of occasions that i have been worried about being spooled (they have come from fishing it out on big boards) and a simple turn of the boat illiminated that worry. Think about this... there is guys squeezing 500' on the same reel with less then 100' of backer and fishing it as a chute rod. The most backing i have on any copper reel is 600' and its behind a 300' copper on an Okuma 55. It would fit another 100-200' more on it but it has been proven that its not needed. With that being said all of my coppers only have between 300-600' of backing.
  13. i have 2 mounting plates, if your in need

  19. Sounds like alot of work. Adding splitshot is the easy answer and would help simplify things. I do have a pair of dedicated 3 color cores on board though.
