  1. Welcome to LOU!
  2. Great company to deal with and a great product! They will size up your boat and set you up with exactly what you need
  3. Thats because leadcore rarely achieves depths of 50'+ without additional help. A copper setup is the answer to this question though. Copper will achieve depths of 22' down per 100' out bu there is some obvious variation depending on speed, current, etc. Copper is what your looking for!
  4. He is the "long term" forcast from NWS this morning? http://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=NWS&issuedby=BUF&product=AFD&format=CI&version=1&glossary=1&highlight=off

  7. https://www.okumafishing.com/product/view/reels/linecounters/cold-water Okuma Cold Water reels were designed and built to replace the old Clarion line counters. My understanding is they were built on the Clarion platform but with obvious exterior changes along with some upgrades. The Cold Water series was designed to appeal to the specifically "trolling" crowd (Pacific Northwest and Great Lakes). I currently run all Convectors and have been very happy with them. The jump to the great Catalina series is not something im looking to do yet but the price for the Cold Water series is very inviting. I have not run the Cold Water series at all but I did just resently purchase a bunch of them to upgrade some of my convectors. Ill be giving them a good test this season on my diver setups and also the riggers. My plan is to fish both side by side. If all goes well then i will be replacing all of my convectors with cold waters this year. Ill certainly report my findings.
  8. good to know!
  9. Thanks Rick, now im inspired to do the same thing. I have 4 that im respooling so it looks like im doing it too. How much 30# mono backing on a 30s size Okuma?
  10. 20 series will work fine for early season loaded up with 10-15# test. No backing needed and no matter what you choice for mainline I would suggest using 10-15# Fluorocarbon leaders also. The problem later in the season is that the 20 series reel wont have the capacity to hold 20-30# test and you will need something in the 30 series. Any choice of downrigger rod will give you the versatility to fish it with planer boards.
