  2. December 13 pm 32 degrees N wind 5-10 Sunny skies Deer were on the feet this afternoon. I hunted my make shift blind again and I literally had deer in the field from the time I showed up until the time I left. 25+ deer including 5 bucks. Deer are certainly grouping up. I had one group of 11 does and once again a bachelor group of 3 bucks. I saw 2 mature bucks. Once again I saw this big mature declining buck with big main beams and no points on his one main beams. I have had this deer on camera for years but I'm not sure if I ever saw him until this year. Oddly enough this year I have seen him at least 6 times. I had the cross hairs on the second mature buck but never pulled the trigger. I wasn't 100 percent comfortable with the shot. Sent from my moto z4 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  6. December 12 pm 32 degrees NE wind 9 mph Cloudy Flurries Zero action this afternoon until 405 then the deer started to show up. 10 deer total. Does, fawns, and four bucks. 3 young bucks and one possible 2 or 3 year old. Tough to tell from a distance but no doubt wasnt a 1.5. but also he was 140 plus either. Saw some sparring, chasing, and bumping. One of the young bucks was still 100 percent in rut crazed mode. Oddly all four bucks showed up together tonight. 8. Well back in the woods after a 3 week hiatus. Snuck in here a bit before 2. Cold temps and a light dusting of snow on the ground. Wind is perfect for my make shift blind but I'm not totally sold on deer sign. Time will tell. Butternut squash on one side and winter wheat on the other. 12. What powder are you using?
  13. Its funny I looked it up also to make sure. I scanned the DEC website to make sure that all tags were valid.
  14. Looking forward to getting back on stand. Less than a week to go. I was also just reminded of the "holiday hunt" for late season. Looks like its gonna be a permanent thing. 2 plus weeks in the late season now so lots of time on the clock to get it done. Looks like seasonal temps are coming. Lows in the 20s and highs only in the low 30s. We just need a little snow on the ground.
  15. No. I believe the business was sold though in 2020.
  16. FYI Bryce changed ownership in the past couple of years and Im hearing a lot of new staff also
  17. Didnt hunt today but did a few hunting related things. 1. Went to the range and shot the muzzleloader. It needed a little bit adjustment on scope. Zeroed at 100. Something I noticed (shooting the Blackhorn 209 powder) is it seems to shoot better the more I shoot. Gun does not like to be clean. 2. Put up additional posted signs in the biggest problem area for trespasser access. 3. Did a quick scout and built a quick ground blind for the late season. Bring on the muzzy season!!!
  18. I honestly can not believe how prevalent this is now. Emails, phone calls, messages its crazy. I get probably 3-4 on an average week Yesterday's scam was "Amazon" called me to confirm my purchase of $1100 and needed all of my info to rectify it. WTF.
  19. Words to hunt by! Grandpa's Ten Commandments 1. Don't step on anything you can step over. 2. Don't look for deer; look for movement (and remember, it's what they're looking for, too). 3. Always approach downwind. In the cool of the day, move uphill; in the heat of the day, move downhill. 4. The best camouflage pattern is called, "Sit down and be quiet!" Your grandpa hunted deer in a red plaid coat. Think about that for a second. 5. Take only the gear to the field that allows you to hunt longer, harder, and smarter. 6. A rainstorm isn't a reason to quit the hunt. It's a reason to stay. 7. Camouflage your appearance, your sound and your scent. 8. Be sure of your shot. Nothing is more expensive than regret. 9. Hunt where the deer actually are, not where you'd imagine them to be. 10. Next year's hunt begins the minute this season's hunt ends
