  1. Stocking numbers havent change since the close. I know that last year the area recieved "leftovers" from the DEC which actually increased the overall stocking for the year.
  2. Well the bay must be completely void of all perch because we couldnt catch them today. ScottB and myself experienced one of the worse outings in years while ice fishing. Fishing with tip downs and jigging rods, and only a couple of perch landed (none by me). Did manage a 29" pike on a tip down and lost 2 others. ScottB also caught one and i saw a couple more landed by others. Water is alittle cloudy and there still is plenty of ice.
  3. Copper is just another method of deployment. Its not replacing wire/dipsey setups but it does replace leadcore in deep water applications. If you run leadcore then you know what the benefit is, if you dont then you should.
  4. A third vote for the daiwas for wire reels!
  5. Depends on the depth your looking to achieve... 450' of copper will get you down 99'. 20-22' per 100' of copper. If you decide to only buy 1 setup then i would suggest a 600' copper. If your planning on buying two copper setups i would suggest buying 2 different lengths for example: 300' and 450' or 450' and 600' so that you can cover more water when running them on the boards. When running them on board you need to clip the release onto the backing. So you are forced into using the entire length of copper. When you run it down the chute you are flatlining it so you can run any length you want. A 600' copper down the chute gives you the option of working alot of different depths just by how much line you let out. No matter what you choose make sure you have your setups mark every 50' so you can know how much you do have out.
  6. If your looking only to achieve depths between 15-25' than i would stick to leadcore. The longer lenght of leadcore needed to achieve that depth will allow it to get away from the boat alittle more. Due to the faster sink rate of copper, it is affected by turns and speed changes more quickly than lead.
  7. Happy Birthday!
  8. The ice is still ugly on the south end and only getting worse with the nice weather. The NE corner is producing some fish but they tend to be small. Not a ton of good reports from iron.
  9. stealth= camo and 30# all the way.
  10. Happy Birthday Tom!
  11. Just a warning...dont get suckered into their book club. If you want their books ill sell you all of mine lol. Decient magazine and club. Tons of small, members benefits.
  12. Dont forget we also had 2 pike break offs and one landed on the tip downs. Weve had alot of pike action this year while perch fishing.
  13. We will be out there in the morning. Look for the Blue "clams" out past buttonwood and stop by.
  14. Is the rumor true Tom, that Oswego is renaming itself to A-Tom-swego? congrats Tom!
  15. Sweet ride!!!
  16. Very nice Paul! You really love your birds.
  17. i use an overhand knot between fly and flasher. No swivel just a direct connection.
  18. I would highly recommend clover. If done right you can get 5-7 years out of a single planting.
  19. Anyone wanna buy a used loran unit?
  20. I run a subtroll and love it. The units you should be looking at are the subtroll, x-4 fishhawk, and depth raider and you will be happy with any of the 3 units. Each unit has its small differences from one another (price, installation, display, etc). God knows theres plenty of posts on here about this subject so do some research.
  21. on the lam, mine are black heartlands. All with twilli tips too.
  22. Everything has its days! With that being said though i would prefer stealthy gear over anything and simply let the lures do the fishing.
  23. Diawa heartland rods are what i run. They certainly take the abuse and they are reasonably priced too.
  24. Im sure it cant hurt but i dont think its needed.
  25. Happy birthday
