  1. congrats!
  2. Welcome to the site!
  3. Not even a pic?
  4. Tommy Barbara owner of Pro Marine Services 392-7304 C- 737-8499. Hes the guy most of us use in Sandy. Good guy, great mechanic, and reliable too!
  5. I believe you can actually achieve greater depths with the torpedos. http://www.torpedodivers.com/charts.asp They really kill alot of the action from lead and copper but they do wonders on flatlines
  6. Sounds like you fish too much!
  7. Translation: If my girlfirend does not go, I will not be allowed to go. Now thats funny!
  8. I have used the Stinger dive bombs on my leadcore rigs. It helps get down alitttle bit farther than you would normally. For every oz of dive bomb you achieve approx 8' of depth (trolling at 2.5 mph). Although you can achieve better depths with dive bombs and torpedo weights, running them on leadcore/ copper greatly affects the whipping and fluttering action. check out this video http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/foru ... php?t=9966
  9. Leadcore, flatlines, or even copper shouldnt be a problem for most outriggers but the pull of a dipsey should be your only concern. I run Dotline outriggers on my boat. http://www.mengo-ind.com. They are aluminum and i reinforced them with a steel insert to give them a stronger backbone in the first 5'. I would search for steel outriggers but as long as you "baby" them aluminum will work. Unless the waves are over 3-4', i run my dipsey rods in the outriggers without any problems. They really are a great addition to any boat.
  10. If you stay away from live bait then the gobies wont bother you so much. jigs and casting sticks works great but trolling with cranks and sticks also works well.
  11. Jimmy should have anything your looking for. http://www.hammerheadchartersandtackle.com/page8.html
  12. Its a nice pic Mark!
  13. Boatino, they paid the top 3 places. i believe the open events are 100% payouts (based on entry) plus merchandise and gift certificates
  14. Tangles will happen from time to time when using cheaters, its just something to expect. I use cheaters almost every trip my downriggers hit the water and i use liberators for my fixed cheaters. The liberators really work great but (like everything else) there is a learning curve with cheaters. 1- i usually lock them on too tight so i dont rely on the rod tip to "trip" the liberator. Either have someone else remove it completely or have them trip it while fighting a fish. 2- i run them upside down from the package directions. this alllows the fish to hit and then slide down the line to the main lure (less tangles, especially with other lines). 3- you definetely need good swivels on your cheater lines. with a short piece of line on a cheater it really doesnt take much to get it twisted up. I also run them on my 20# downriggger rods rather than 15# so when there is a tangle its alot more manageable.
  15. Hey Bob, how many boats entered?
  16. There have been some really great reports out of the Sandy Creek since Memorial day weekend. The King bite has been very consistent and they have dominated most of the boats catches. Reports of some Kings in the low 20s too. On Sunday morning we left the dock just after 5:00 and headed for 100+ fow, west of the creek. We entered the lake to an incredible sunrise and more importantly a 1 foot chop and an overcast sky. We reached 150 fow, on a north troll, and setup on a very nice screen. While sending the second rigger down the probe rigger fires. King on! 70' down on an NK nbk. We continued a hot and heavy rigger bite for the next hour or so. It took us about an hour to get 6 rods in the water. Riggers 40- 70' down, loaded with NK and Stinger NBKs was the hot ticket. After the first hour the bite slowed down for us and the wire/dipsey bite turned on. 155' on the dipsey rods with green/crush on white smartfish took 4 fish for us. All of the action for us seemed to be between 40-70' down. We fished above and below that but couldnt seem to pull any of those fish. We ended the day with 11 for 15 (Kings, 1 steelhead, and 1 Coho).
  17. Happy Birthday
  18. well be out both sat and sun. give us a shout guys.
  19. I only use an overhand knot. Its quick, simple, and strong. Also with a loop knot you can easily change your combo without having to retie
  20. Happy Birthday
  21. Looks like most of us missed a good day. The lake looked real nice this morning. I was wishing i was out there when i left home for Brighton this morning.
