These meeting are open to anyone who would like to attend. Dont feel that you have to attend the meetings to be involved. Most pen rearing programs are especially in need of volunteers to sign up for scheduled feeding times. After we recieve the fish, these are time slots throughout the day (for a few weeks), that the fish need to be fed and cared for.

FYI- The first meeting of the year will be held on Saturday March 7, 2009 at 1:00pm in the Gymnasium at the Hamlin Town Hall . This years pen rearing program will be the same as years past with two pens raising a total of 7500 Steelhead. The Sandy Creek pen rearing program is looking forward to adding 2 pens of chinook to the program in 2010.

I have always wanted to troll in fall with musky killers. No doubt they would put fish in the boat. How many, who knows?

Fish community objectives are broad-based goals that will guide DEC and the Province of Ontario’s Ministry of Natural Resources in managing Lake Ontario fisheries. “DEC is committed to sound, science-based management of Lake Ontario fisheries to maintain high-quality angling opportunities and their associated economic benefits,†said DEC Commissioner Pete Grannis. “In light of the dramatic and rapid changes to the Lake Ontario ecosystem, we will continue to work with local communities to chart the course for the future of this important resource.†DEC strongly encourages people with an interest in the Lake Ontario ecosystem to participate in this process. Prior to attending a meeting, participants should review the fish community objectives document prepared in 1997 and a brief summary of ecological changes that have taken place in the Lake Ontario ecosystem on the internet at http://www.seagrant.sunysb.edu/glsportf ... The public will then have an opportunity to ask questions and discuss any information presented. Following this question and answer session, participants will be offered an opportunity to provide written comments that will assist DEC and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources with planning efforts for the future of the Lake Ontario fishery. The public meetings will be held at the following times and locations: Monday, March 9, 2009, from 7 - 10 p.m. at the Oswego County BOCES, County Route 64, Mexico, New York. raider44, I run alot of cheaters and ive always been a big fan of running the liberators. Unlike the rubberband method, Liberators are fully adjustable. I have found that you can adjust whether or not you want the roemer to slide down the line by simply reversing the way you attach it to the line. Some days when i notice hook ups arent that great on my cheaters i turn the liberators upside down and lock them in tighter and they seem to stay pinned while i fight the fish. Most of the time the rod tip hitting the liberator will make it break free, allowing you to fight and reel in the fish on the lower spoon.

When i had my bass boat "we" (me and some other crazy person) spent alot of time trolling the mouth of sandy creek and the oak orchard break wall early in the year (march-april) before the docks were in. we mostly ran 3 rods and used the church "walleye boards" to help with separation . Chinook gave you some good ideas on baits, the only thing id would add is we sometimes added splitshot to get our lines deeper, especially with spoons.

Makes everything else look like chump change. $17,500,000,000.00 for an energy project in the 51st state of puerto rico? http://www.stimuluswatch.org/project/view/3349
