  1. tangledline, thanks for finding that. Floater, check out that post. It gives a pic of a way to rig the subtroll without using crimps and makes the subtroll removeable.
  2. mdryer, On all of my flies i tie an overhand knot and attach them to the flasher swivel.
  3. anyone have a good (cheap) website for these? thanks
  4. Dave, Its a nice video and i assume everyone will complain about the download speed. Rick, I figured you wouldnt miss that.

  6. SUBTROLL! sorry guys had to break the chain. personally i wouldnt mess with the fish hawk. i think your money could be better spent on a subtroll or depth raider. They are similar units and youll hear good reviews on both too. Try searching through some old posts because theres alot of topics on this subject.
  7. lots of guys run flasher/flies on downriggers and somedays it might be your hottest setup. if it was me and i was limited to 4 rods... id run 2 dipsey rods with fasher/fly combos on each and run spoons w/ cheaters off the riggers. It may not be the hottest setup day in and day out but i think it would give you the chance to cover the most water w/ six lures in the water.
  8. Happy B-day
  9. Daiwa Heartland rods put up with the pounding quite well and theyre reasonably priced. They might be worth for you to check out.
  10. you lost after the word "wow"
  11. do i think it helps? i dont know. do i think it hurts? definitely not. A couple of years ago i ran a echip on the line of one of my downrigger rods for an entire season. Through observation i didnt feel that it was a huge producer over a non echip downrigger rod. I actually made up some tourny tied fly rigs for this season that are identical except 2 that have echips above the tandom hook and 2 that dont. I plan on doing some on the water side by side testing so well see what happens.
  12. wow 11 pages
  13. I love those conversations on the radio!
  14. Wow, 40 is old. Happy Birthday
  15. As long as you dont have your actual license in hand your ok to run in the amatuer division. The second your coast license is issued youll be forced to run pro.
  16. On a tourny tie, I prefer to place them above the tandom hook. It allows me to still put my standards bead combo between hooks.
  17. Congratulations Captain Mike
  18. yeah it is a plano 3731
  19. No good news yet hopefully theyll get some legislation passed to help us out but unfortunately it looks to be a go.
  20. The DEC has all the propossed changes listed out for all of us to read over. This link will give you guys an opportunity to voice your concerns to the possible regulation changes for 2010 by emailing your comments. check it out! http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/51001.html
  21. Maybe its time to trade that bass boat of yours for a drift boat.
  22. A good time was had by all!
  23. the best thing to do is to state your intentions. if you plan on going left or right make an obvious attempt in a way to signal your intentions to the other boat. most of the time boats will pass port side to port side when trolling close. not everyone has read the book on kindness or common sense.
  24. If your question is "do you have the right of way when trolling?" then the answer is no. the pecking order of "right of way" is as follows -overtaken vessel -vessel not under command -vessel restricted in ability to maneuver -fishing vessel -sailboat -power driven -seaplane your boat operations fall under power driven not fishing. fishing is considered as commercial trawling, nets, etc. not trolling. so when you and another "power boat" meet neither of you has right of way over another.
