  1. well last saturdays shakedown cruise produced 1 steelie and riddled with minor boat problems. this week, the mechanic came out and got the "bugs out" and everything seems great. (i hate shakedown cruises).

headed out sunday morning with great weather and a glassy pond. searched for any colored water inside and it was no where to be found. saturdays wind took care of that. gave up quickly on the inside water ,gin clear. pretty steady 41.5-43.5 temps from inside waters out to 100'+. fairly good screen in 40-60' no takers. dumped 1 fish on the boards. ugly fishing conditions out there. we definetely need some rain to bring some color back.

  2. this is the email i recieved today from the man in charge.

    Hello all volunteers,

I would like to start this email off by thanking everyone for participating in the project this year. Your enthusiasm has been the driving force behind the success at our site. Just minutes ago I finished a phone conversation with a representative from the State DEC. The nice weather has forced us to cancel the rest of the project for this year. Our fish are going to be direct stocked from the truck directly into the Lake . The maximum sustained water temperature penned fish can tolerate is 65 degrees and we reached that point yesterday. Everyone is invited to meet the stocking truck at the direct stocking site (the public boat launch at Sandy Creek ) at 11:00am. Matt Sanderson from the State DEC will take a quick water temperature and then the fish will either be released there or driven over to Hamlin Beach State Park to be pumped directly into the Lake . I have been assured by the DEC that even with direct stocking we will receive the full number of fish for our area of the lake. In addition we will have the opportunity to raise Chinook Salmon as well as our Steelhead in 2009.

    Thank you all,

    Sincerely,

    Robert Holden

  3. ill be out there on the first, probably the second, maybe the third, and well have to see about the forth. i just cant wait, scouting has been great. it really looks to be another great year for birds. i will definately post my bird reports. i hope to see some reports and some pics from you guys.

  4. billy i think its time to move closer to the lake. fortunately i live less than a mile the lake and less than a mile from where my boat is docked. my boat has a 112 galon tank, which hurts at the pump, but gets great mileage trolling. unfortunately because im selfemployed i average about 35000 miles a year on my silverado (what a nice gas bill that is anually). with absolutely no relief in sight for fuel costs either. basically fuel bills suck and costs of doing business is directly affected. small business and middle income america suffer for it too.
