  1. A miracle happened......i managed to get the family out on the boat this evening to do a couple of hours of boating (which in my eyes actually means fishing). motored out to 200 fow and setup on a north troll. drop the probe rigger down first and it fires before i even grab the next rod. 65' down nbk stinger next rod to fire leadcore 9 colors w/ irish car bomb everyone on the boat took a turn fighting it till they got tired my 5 year VS. a rainbow + 9 colors? the last 25 min my son boated 3 little guys ended tonights trip 5 for 6. absolutely a perfect night for the family.
  2. im looking to install triple rod holders (adjustable) on the boat. a set for either side of the boat. any suggestions, links, recommendations, etc. would be great, thanks.
  3. gene, ive heard mixed reports of guys in real tight out to 450'. the fish are scattered, so when you do find them dont leave them.
  4. I havent been out fishing since the orleans county proam and it felt nice to be back on the water. lake this morning had a slight ripple to it with almost no wind and sunny skies. headed north, in search mode, stopping to look at 100 fow. for the most part an empty screen. continued north to 200 fow and the screen activity increased so i decided to setup there and troll north. in 250 fow we dumped a arial steelie, followed by another one in about 275 fow, and another in about 315 fow. not the greatest start but we finished up 6 for 9 w/ 2 small kings and the rest steelies. (including a couple just over 10#) spent the majority of the day on a n/s troll between 250-300 fow. nothing fast and furious just a slow pick form 5:30 till about 9:30. irish car bomb, nbk, git-r-done all took fish. 1 fish off leadcore 7 colors. the rest was a rigger/ spoon bite 30 -77' down. down temp was pretty warm and consistent (53 degrees down 100') the screen was busy (lots of deep bait w/ lots of fish in the top 90').
  5. you guys sure its not one pof those lake trout he talks about?
  6. tonight i paid 4.799/ gallon for 89 (nothing better than topping off the tank)
  7. heres a link: http://www.precisionangling.com/bigwater.html
  8. how about deploying a potato gun?
  9. glad it work for you gene (thanks mark)
  10. hopefully this will http://www.lakeontariounited.com/fishin ... .php?t=817
  11. jeremy, theres a ton of posts on this subject if you find the time to scroll through them. seems to be alot of fishhawks in use but in my opinion new sales seem to be between subtroll and depth raider. personally i own a subtroll and have been very pleased with it.
  12. scott, casting sticks works great especially on wautoma and swimming bucktails too.
  13. erabbit, just to load you up with even more info and to add to billyv........ the past few weeks ive ben playing with leader lengths and spinny setting. the friday "practice fishing day" during the niagara proam we did 8 kings on the wire dipsey rod on an nbk spin doctor (#sd70925) on the opposite holes from factory w/ 19" fly leader. on saturday i couldnt catch a fish on it and the hot setup became spin doctor (#sd70905) on the opposite holes w/ 22" fly leader. truth is you never know what the fish want, so dont be afraid to switch it up. 3 different guys 3 different answers.
  14. nice pics guys.
  15. tank, i have never used the add-a-line style but the seem like they would be a pain to rig. i used to use the rubber band style until i found the roemer liberators. i think they cost about $7.00 so if you dont like them you really havent invested much into them.
  16. hey tom, i saw you guys coming into the creek as i went over the bridge. is it always an adventure fishing with you?
  17. gambler, typically i use 30# big game and good swivels on both ends of my leaders (one to the spoon and one to the roemer) and have never experienced line twist. i really dont understand how you could get line twist. just fishing, you definetely need to increase the distance between rigs.i use an 8' leader for my cheater and about 8'-12' separation between them.
  18. i use roemer liberator releases for my cheaters
  19. welcome to the site billy
  20. roemer liberators work great too http://www.tacklehaven.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=k6262000&Category_Code=DOWNRIGGERSACCESS-ROEMER&Product_Count=0
  21. tim, on saturday, the first day of the niagara proam, it was the first thing to fire. i actually reeled it in all the way to the liberator and saw the 8# on the line and said wow hes tough fish and then all hell broke loose., great way to start the day and put them both in the cooler.
  22. just to add on to what momay was saying........ i run this rig alot on my boat (almost always with less than six rods in the water). typically i run it deeper than 50' down. i believe it will out produce a single spoon at the same depth any day of the week. dont be afraid to run the same size spoons or to reverse the setup (big on bottom, small on top). at the niagara proam we actually double up on the mupped rod (21# and 8# king, talk about fun, try 2 kings on the same rod)
  23. nice catch jeremy. wish i had that for the proam today
  24. flies were horrible on thurs. the boat was absolutey covered in them. on friday the little ****ers started biting. it was extremely bad
