  1. hey schoolmaster the channel is good this year as opposed to last year. i always seem to stay a little west when heading out but no signs of a "magical" sand bar this year
  2. my suggestion is to get your hands on as many sticks as you can. pink, purple, black and silver, orange, perch, rainbow and brown trout, the list gos on and on. different things work on different days. it would probably be good to check out the fishing reports and see whats working.
  3. thats what pen rearing is all about

  5. 600' of copper? i can see that rod being ignored by guests obviously copper "could" replace the need for leadcore in the top 50' (due to less is more). and i guess if your running more then 6-8 lines it would be nice to add to the spread (copper off the boards on the outside)....... i love the leadcore, so whats the negatives?
  6. could someone sell me on the idea of copper? how many of you guys are running it? whats the + and -?
  7. real nice pics from the north hamlin canal doug im itching to get out there , thanks for making it worse
  8. new eagle fishfinder 30 or so nks - from the sale 100 newly tied flies- hope i have enough couple of tackle boxes assortment of tape hooks 1 new rod holder for "bubba"
  9. my release is below my st900 and ive never had a problem w/ tangles. my probe is detachable (and yes it still works 120'+ down) so i guess if i had a problem occur i could just attached the probe to the ball and put the release above it in a matter of seconds. keep it simple
  10. surface temps and buoys http://www.coastwatch.msu.edu/cwlinks.html http://www.coastwatch.msu.edu/twoontarios.html sunrise, sunset, moon info http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/RS_OneDay.html lake currents http://www.glerl.noaa.gov/res/glcfs/glcfs.php?lake=o&ext=sfcur&type=N&hr=00 temp transects http://www.glerl.noaa.gov/res/glcfs/glcfs.php?lake=o&ext=vwt&type=N&hr=00
  11. another vote for the subtroll!!!! theres a bunch of posts discussing speed and temp units on this board. look under "this old boat" or do a search. you should be able to find all the info you need.
  12. can any of you guys recommend a good "marine quality" snowbrush? possibly telescoping? do you guys use 4' or 6'? light weight? maybe aluminum or carbon? what types of handles do you prefer? a durable brush? is nylon too stiff? do you guys sharpen the scraper? or do they come sharp "enough"? 6" of snow on the boat on easter........anyone sick of snow yet?
  13. real nice report......good to see someone out there fishing

  19. im shooting for april fools day to have the boat in the water for the season. should have the boat uncovered by this weekend. looks to be a nice week from weds on.
  20. about 6-7 years ago during the spring loc derby, we all loaded in my buddies boat in sandy and headed out for a evening of fishing. the lake was rolling 4' or better and had our first release before we got out of the mouth. "the fish" would take line then the line would go slack and after 15-20 min i landed a beautiful....................... plastic wegmans bag. the stick hooked both handles damn thing fought like h*ll
  21. im sure theres some good stories out there so......... whats everyones oddest or funniest catch?
  22. i couldnt even come up with an answer to my own post. i guess if you broke it down to time of year then it might be easier to make a choice.(spring= ff, summer=s+t, fall=ff) it would probably work out to be 50/50 im thinking every time we are out there we rely more on one than the other. (some days we fish bait balls, some days we fish temp, etc) but i dont think i could ever leave the dock again without both i just love to see the debates
  23. lets say you have a "in dash" depthfinder on your boat (so depth and safety arent a question) and you had to choose between bringing your fishfinder, and bringing your speed and temp probe for a day of fishing............
  24. hey pat, all hell broke loose on sandy yesterday, looked pretty wild, i guess i should be glad my dock survived
  25. gambler, welcome to sandy
