  1. No problem. Launched my boat at the public launch last saturday. No issues in and out of the channel. 3'+
  2. Correct but look at total supply...
  3. My understanding is its all in effort to keep the possibility of flooding down. We still have record inflows so apparently they are trying to get ahead of it.
  4. Braid works also as backing but make sure you wrap the spool with electrical tape to keep the braid from slipping on the spool. FYI i have never experienced, seen, or heard of wire reels creeping because of mono backing.
  5. So the answer is... They need backing to make sure the spoil is full. Okuma 30 series require a bit of backing to insure that. If you spool only the 1000 ft of wire then the spool will not be full. I would suggest 200' of 20# mono and then attach to the wire with an albright knot and fill until the spool is full. A full spool offers both counter accuracy and operation my efficiency. Sent from my moto z4 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. I have 3, 5, 7, 10 colors along with 50, 100, 150 coppers
  7. For skinny water I run chinook divers. Size #2 in black (honestly not much of a difference with diver size and performance in less then 20 fow). I prefer to use my standard diver setups with 65# braid as opposed to wire this time of year. 12' fluorocarbon leader 10-12# test. And 99% of the time its a spoon on the money end. From rod tip to diver we will fish them 10-15 ft out.
  8. 21 days... Sent from my moto z4 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Sometimes but 99% of the time my flatlines get sticks. My riggers and divers get spoons.
  10. For reels... Okuma Convector high speeds are a great choice. They are virtually bulletproof! For rods... I love the Okuma White diamond series. They have specific models for divers, riggers, coppers, leadcore, Im also a huge fan of the Blue Diamond series and use the ML downrigger rods for early season.
  11. Save the date! The 2021 Sandy Creek Shootout is scheduled for Saturday July 24! Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sandycreekshootout Website: http://sandycreekshootout.com/
  12. Correct
  13. That's an easy question... https://bloodruntackle.com/stainless-trolling-wire/
  14. Yes, unfortunately no flea market this year. We are hoping for something even bigger though for 2022! https://lakeontariocharterboatassociation.com/
  15. Same diameter so the dive charts are also the same. It is also easier to tie knots but really how hard is it to tie an overhand knot in anything??? I set up four diver rods, ran it for one season, and it left me scarred. As a result of just a single strand breaking we would have to cut back the line and retie. By the time the season ended each reel had substantially less line on it than it started with and were in need of being completely respooled. Now I realize my gear might get punished more than others but I feel this is unavoidable by most. I honestly dont remember the last time I broke a single strand on 7 strand wire but it is common with the 19 strand. No need to reinvent the wheel... 7 strand all the way for me.
  16. Ive crawled for browns with flutter spoons and evil eyes (1.4-1.8) and also have speed trolled with NKs and DWs regular size (2.5-3.1). Statistics favor a slower trolling speed for browns (or at least the big ones on my boat). Generally speaking I tend to be a very slow troller in comparison to the other boats out there. Water conditions dictate bait choices and bait choices dictate speed.
  17. Because the Drag Master upgrade is nothing short of amazing for all reels (not just Okuma).
  18. I wouldnt even attempt to use 19 strand as backer. Stick with braid and you can thank me later.
  19. Welcome to the site. Lots and lots of information here.
  20. The differences between them is the obvious white color and additional SS parts (spool and boom). I believe the marketing strategy behind the TS series is to gear more towards the salt water anglers. Besides those things there are no other differences. The standard spool and standard boom work just as good and IMO the SS just adds a different look and better durability. As for a retailer check out https://kmielectronics.com/ or https://www.hodgesmarine.com/ Cannon is also running a rebate right now on purchases made the first half of 2021 https://www.cannondownriggers.com/promotions?utm_source=ascent360&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=cn_210119_Cannon_2021_National_Promotions B&utm_term=MjY3NjY5ODQzMzkxS0&utm_content=6517376&bc_hash=3f6729374855bb3b00398deb96643d76&spMailingID=6517376&spUserID=MjY3NjY5ODQzMzkxS0&spJobID=1180811304&spReportId=MTE4MDgxMTMwNAS2&fbclid=IwAR1HYw-zL1cvsrPJgEvL6G7vnDTIMiiVN-sc7rlCTc3bRqc867EXQQthQIg
  21. small swivel in between...
  22. The biggest advantage inlines offer is the ability to run multiple lines per side. 3,4,5 boards per side are a possibility and you can be extremely diverse with what you want to run.
  23. I love the Bubba Blade handles. They are easily the most comfortable knives to use. I have 3 of them in various sizes. Problem is the edge doesnt hold up well. The thing for me is that the Cutcos are warrantied for life. My buddy ships a handful of them off mid season for sharpening and then sends them all in during the winter for sharpening. We like sharp knives so we have 15 or so between the two of us that we cycle through. Nothing compares to the factory sharpened edge and they come back from the factory dangerously sharp. Honestly salmon arent the issue, trout are the issue. Trout bones are like cutting through steel some days and put a hurting on knives. As for flex, the Cutco doesnt have a lot of flex, which is fine with me. Probably my only gripe would be the blade length. Having an option for a blade 3-4" longer would be nice for girthier fish (25# or bigger).
