Silver Fox Sandy 6/5
FISHINMAN replied to Silver Fox's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Thanks for the report Scott -
Quarter to 5 quarter after 5 whatever didn't really need to start fishing until like 11am anyways since they wouldn't get going until then, so just think of all the extra beauty sleep you cost us and Lord knows you could use that I want to thank Shawn for inviting me to fish along with him and his dad aka "MuskyIke" (what a driver but hey i didn't have to drive so I was happy) on this ever so prestigious occasion, the 48th birthday of Shawn the "copper man" Burr which I might add was only a 200 foot (first time I have run it and yes Jerry no tangles and thanks again Brian Gamble for the knot tying job too ) although watching you reel in that Atlantic (which probably weighed 18# when you first started to reel it in ) in at your advanced age, would make one think it was a 400 , After watching ole dropsy with the first 2 "ethical releases" I wasn't gonna get up at 4:30am to watch you drop anymore fish so when a rod fired I was gonna be all over it like like Hank on a leaky lower unit For a while I thought all we were gonna land was that piece of plastic shroud until "Muskyike" finally put us on some fish after 4 hours of threats to take his boat driving privileges away if he didn't get us on some fish soon. What I really thought wasn't nice was Shawn physically yanking his poor father ole "Muskyike" out of his seat to fight the "willow branch" on the 5 color with his sore hands that he had to take a whole bottle of Advil in the morning just to help with the pain from all the gardening he had done the day before. "We" think steelhead until "we" get it in the boat and then not "WE" but "I" say ATLANTIC and another person .......... (hint he was the guy) says "brown trout" ???? All in all it was a great day to be on the water with a couple of super nice guys and catching some nice fish. The Atlantic and the steelie were unfortunate victims of bleeding like OJ had been at there house and had to be kept. I got ya 2 of them there SS I'll drop off to you Shawn. After having to go to Narby's since C.C. didn't have them or the wire I needed but did have some other "stuff" I bought that if you ask my wife or pretty much any fisherman's wife would tell ya you "DON'T NEED". I will say the lady working at Narby's was very nice (usually works in the store she said) and said after asking her that she wouldn't tell my wife and would make sure the bill doesn't show up on my credit card statement until like 2015 P.S. NO RAY AND BOB I am NOT over the side of the boat. I am washing the qt of blood from the fish off of me

FISHINMAN replied to paprman's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Paprman, sorry I didn't ask you if you were a LOU member I usually ask guys I haven't met before , I was the guy in the Sea Nympth that started to back into you a bit in the creek (I was desperate for some cell phone coverage and that was the only place that had it at the time ) Glad to see you got a couple of fish. After checking the water color inside I decided to go try out a bit and fished from 50-150fow. Well that wasn't gonna help the catch rate because the water was a cold 46 degrees everywhere I went from top to 80 down and had a nasty current from the east (yes Bob the east ) About 11am I was starting to think that the 1st skunk of the year was about to happen so I decided to give Jeremy AKA Jax a call even though I knew he was fishing west out of Olcott and he said he was getting everything deep including having his wire out 430ft . I no sooner get off the phone with him and my rigger that I had parked at 105 over 132 pops and I think OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO a laker but there goes the skunk I think to myself, well low and behold it's a coho that comes slapping to the surface . Well that was it for the day. The always wonderful 1 for 1 ! Glow frog was the "hot" lure. Actually pulled rods once and had some scales on the same lure one other time, maybe a shaker? -
Sandy creek deep water?
FISHINMAN replied to Gene Shenk's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Gene I talked with the guy that was pulling his boat as you launched on Sunday and he went all the way to 500 and said it was blank out there -
Scott you have no time for Pro Am you will be finishing my door !!

Let him reel it in? I heard he pushed her to the floor to get to the rod first. I gave her a wire rod with no fish on it and with the dipsey not tripped out 300 and told her she had a fish on but then scolded her for letting get away My wife is great to fish with for the most part, drives like Musky sometimes , but helps out with getting rods moved and what not. She always wants to let me land fish because she knows how much it makes me happy and the fact that she knows when I take guys out in my boat that I like to let them land "most" the fish. We all do that for the most part except maybe "Rod Hog" (just kidding )

Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):May16th Time on Water: Weather/Temp: Sunny and 65 Wind Speed/Direction:light Waves: none Surface Temp: 52 Location: Sandy Creek LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 2 Total Boated:2 Species Breakdown: 1 steel head, 1 King Hot Lure: Really? 2 fish what's hot? Trolling Speed: Down Speed:2.2-2.7 Boat Depth: 8 ft to 95 ft Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Finally got out after 2+ weeks of the water and had a nice late afternoon/ evening troll with the Mrs. Talked with Mr. Jerry Felluca and others about the fishing earlier in the day and heard browns in close but water clearing by the second and Laker's stacked out 70- to 90 ft. So being the great anti laker guy I am I decided to try the shore line heading east. Couldn't find much of any color in the water but kept at it and low and behold I get near Mr. Felluca's mansion on the lake and the Mrs sees the inside rod on the board "acting weird" and sure enough fish on and it's a nice steelie of about 6# that did a little aerial show for us. 150 back orange J-7. Decide to try the shore going back west a bit with nothing so we headed out a bit as a couple guys had said they they had marked fish up high but couldn't get them to go. Set the riggers from 70 up to 30 and 1 wire out 210 and the other out 110. Switched off the kicker motor and started the big motor which ran a little groggy for a second so in neutral it went for a second and a little rev it got and it was all good and as soon as I started to go a bit the 110 wire goes and it's not a laker as that baby screwed and started to jump. KING TIME Got this teenager (15lbs) on the Atomic hammer fly behind a White Nuclear green dot (?) spinny By the way the 8 inch Lamprey that stayed attached went back in the water..............BUT IN 3 PIECES Only got the 2 fish but was a happy guy Still no skunks in my boat this short season so far They are coming fellow Sandy Guys Nice to have met you Gene!!

I would absolutely have to agree with what everybody else has said here the guy has done so much for me for so little that it's almost embarrassing. I know that I owe him still and plan on making good somehow in the future just for all the PM's and phone calls I have bothered him with in the past (and probably will again in the future ) that he took time out of his busy day to answer the only thing I would dis agree with would be in Shawn's little story about going to Sodus for something to eat Sure we ate but we went there in the 1st place because Shawn has this little problem (a lot of us also suffer from it too)............. He wanted to buy more tackle at the tackle shop HANK YOUR #1 and #99 too .. That makes you 100

FISHINMAN replied to Tank's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Tank nice seeing ya yesterday at the dock. Glad to hear you got into them too. I took a newbie out yesterday and managed to do a 5 for 7 day but was west of the creek in front of the pump house in 9-10 fow. After he dropped the first 2 we ended up doing 5 straight with a double mixed in on the Green Nuclear Stinger right after I put the second one down. Orange J-7 took 2 off the boards and all the other 5 hits were on a the Green Nuclear Stinger which also took 2 on my last trip. Solo trips can be nice but always better to enjoy the action and thrill of the fight and catches with another person there to high five and congratulate Not to mention the fact that you can run extra rods -

10 inch is fine Rick. These guys are always bragging about the size of their knives to other guys I'm sure look at Ray K, he's gotten by using a 6inch for years . Stay away from the "Salmon Slicer" that's for slicing the salmon into thin strips after filleting won't hold up to the bones as well.
