  1. Bob my body may not have been working but the mind was going the whole time, just wish I could have kept an eye on the rods while sleeping on Sunday because we know what "buffy" Ray K. was keeping his eye on  Pat, I will try to do the Pro Am again if it fits my schedule that's for sure and I'm sure that we will see/talk down at Sandy more often. I may have found out part of my sickness problem too. Come to find out there seems to be some sort of a bug going around as 2 people at work were sick this weekend and my wife woke this morning with stomach problems too and missed work. Though all of HER problems could be do to the pictures of Ray I showed her, trying to explain how we ended up with 1 of the only 2 female observers out of 65 boats and me talking to her about this whole weekend made her sick   P.S ditto on what Ray said about the Siggs flys (my first time using them) and the R&R spoons which I have come to love too.
  2. Well we (Ray K, Muskybob and myself) teamed up for our first pro-am tourny and managed a very respectable 6th place finish out of 28 boats Myself having only met and fished with Ray 1 time and Ray and I had never met Muskybob so we really were a new amateur team. We started out the first day boating a king early and letting a 10# king go because we felt good about the day. Well it took us a double on a rigger and a wire screamer in the last hour to box out  and stop kicking ourselves for not keeping the small king early. Well we ended up with a nice first day total of 170pts and in 3rd place only 12pts out of first  . Needless to say we were confident and cocky about day 2  Day 2 starts out good for us, we go to our way point from day 1 and get a teen king in the first 30 minutes in the boat. 15 minutes later we get a good knock off (if there is such a thing?) but that's gone. Then it got UGLY UGLY UGLY for 1 member of this team :!: ME  :x  To make a long story short I was absolutely exhausted from a lot of travel the day before and about 4 or 5 hrs sleep total over the two days and the lake was rougher than I have ever fished in my 25 years on the lake. I took a Bonine before leaving which has helped me in the past but not today. I was so tired I couldn't stand and needed to sit down and rest. Well close your eyes and that's it. I woke to help get a wire rod out of the way and that's all it took LOOK AWAY>>>>>>>>> PUKE TIME FOR TOM So I was pretty much useless to help poor Ray (who worked his tail off back there both days but really extra hard on Sunday) and Bob the man on the wheel in those waves. Did manage to get up enough strength to land our biggest king 21# I am truly grateful to Ray and Bob for putting in the effort today to keep us in the hunt. Well back to our day, we couldn't mark a fish to save our lives(at least that's what they told me, I was asleep ) until about noon when we got 3 fish going into the the ocean like waves, including a very small but tourney legal king (after Ray had turned around back into the waves much to this guys dislike). That last little king put us in 6th place 1pt ahead of 7th place. Ended up with 4 kings, a 92pt day and a first time total of 262pts Here's a few photos (click on them to make larger) Our 1st days fish Our team with the observer the lovely JOY that was assigned to us  The final amateur board (sorry forgot the pro board) and your L.O.U.S.E.R.S team excepting our prizes from left to right (or east to west) Muskybob, myself and the mighty Coors light drinking midget that captained this clan Ray K who also placed a king in 18th place on the LOC board on Thursday I would encourage anybody out there that has never done this to sign up and do it at least one time. It was a great experience for the three of us and to meet fellow members from L.O.U. (Rick aka Bad Habit the observer that helped us out by volunteering, Capt. Rick aka Yankee Troller,L&M, Capt. Jerry from Rebel Charters who I think placed in the top 10 for the Pro division and won the biggest brown of the day and with that fish came in second I believe(?) for the summer LOC Brownie division, Fishstix (who was not in the tourney because of a sign up error ) Captain Pat aka Persistence, Mark aka Reel Jerks and any others I may have forgotten (Billy V, I looked for you on Sunday but you had left already ) and last but not least Chad aka Blue eye that helps keep this site going! I am sure there will be more from Ray (about my lovely Sunday  ) and Bob about their experience too. Congrats to everyone that was in the Pro- am . There are 3 things I would change or improve on, 1st, give out the rule book to everyone to follow along with while they read them, so we can ask any questions afterwards not during and we can follow along better while all the rude people talked during the reading  :x 2nd, put a orange or yellow vest on the person standing amongst the other 50 people on the pier that you need to show your team number to on the way in :!: 3rd,maybe do the LOC winners presentation AFTER the Pro - am awards  But it was run great from what I saw. P.S YT 1st and 3rd with Jax on your boat and what places WITHOUT him on board? hmmmmm  , and who won YT vs Billy V i know it was close :?:
  3. OH NO THERE'S ONLY ONE OF THEM THERE RAY K's :!: THANK GOD :!: WHAT THE HELL, WAY TO GO THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A FISH FOR THE PRO AM. JUST LIKE THE BILLS WHEN THEY BEAT THE RAIDERS 51-3 IN THE PLAYOFFS, SHOT THERE LOAD EARLY  :!: Jax "best friend" also put a king on the board today tied for 9th.
  4. Bob we are gonna ruin that Okuma this weekend
  5. John don't know how much the Shimano poles are but I have been using Eagle claws for 20yrs and they work great and you can't beat the price Captain Bob Sogin of Reel Excitement at the Oak told us at a seminar that he uses the E. Claws too  Just y 2 cents :!:
  6. Becks, Malin 7 strain 30 or 40 lb test is what most people you will find use. get at least 1,000' spool.
  7. From the Oak site "Tranny Spoon...emerald green crystallina Pirate 55 (favorite of Capt. Chas)...color no longer available"
  8. Andre, a lot of the spoons you see mentioned on this and other sites are regular Nk's or other manufactures that are "doctored up" with tapes. You can find some of them for sale at tackle shops like Shawn's marina for the Habenaro's or I think it's Narby's in Oak Orchard for the 42nd spoon but most are taped up. Go to the tackle descriptions on this site and the www.Attheoak.com and there is a lot of pictures on there of the taped up spoons and their names.
  9. I know he loves to fish with you guys and he learns a lot from you, so I'm sure he doesn't mind the razzing he gets from you during the Pro Am
  10. Damn it YT answer my question was the "service" as good as the first time :?: Did he spill any drinks in the rough waters? Sounds like maybe it slipped a little and that could be the reason for your 3rd place finish instead of 1st . It's nice of you to blame it on the waves
  11. I AM PUMPED :!: Can't wait to meet Curtainbob opps I mean Muskeybob and I have been looking forward to meeting Fishstix for a few years now (wish Skeiner was here too ) Hope to see Billy V and Yankee throw down over the Habenaro vs Malloto Team L.O.U.S.E.R.S will have the best eats on board our boat that I can tell you. Man I can taste those grilled marinated tenderloin sandwiches with on my famous crusty ciabatta bread and herb mayonnaise now MMMMMMMM GOOD Good luck to you all, but we'll need it
  12. Skipper, you are GONNA NEED MORE THAN 300 FT! They will spool you by the time you get the rod out of the holder and with no stretch it's gonna be gonezo for all the tackle. Get yourself 7strand wire in at least 1,000 feet because there is gonna be times when it backlashes or kinks and you will lose wire (I speak from recent experiance  :x  ) Use the search on this site under tackle and techniques and you will find all you need to know or better yet try to get out with someone else to learn how (Ray K is always looking for someone to go out with him and just bring some bananas with you )
  13. Billy never mind the Habanero, I want to know what Rick thought of Jax AKA "The Waiter" service was in comparison to the Olcott derby CONGRATS BIG TIME TO ALL OF YOU ABOARD THE YANKEE TROLLER :!: :!:
  14. Just talked to Jax who is on Yankee's boat. They are in 5th place with 235pts. The leader has 305 and the first 4 places are within 7pts of each other. Team YT did not fill there box. Waves were really bad 4-6 fotters in the AM and there observer was a puking machine right off the bat :x That's all the info I have for now.
  15. PKhunter the white stuff on your line is the fleas? Don't know what size line you are running but move to at least 30# or get some flea flicker line. I fished at Sandy today and literally no fleas  Try to check your lines every 20-30 minutes and if you see some on your line try to "whip" your line in and out of the water to get them off as you reel in your lines. Good job on the fish
  16. Scott I heard you on the radio. My wife and I ended up 6 for 7 with 4 kings all 17-22#, 1 brownie and a #@%&*# trout (Lost what I believe was another good size laker that just stayed stright down, oh wait I did feel him shake his head once  :!: :x ) Fished from Sandy to about 3 miles east doing fish in both directions. Purple and silver R&R took 2 fish and green E-chip with a aqua fly on the wire back 130 - 175 took 3 fish, R&R lemon ice took the brown. Same as Scott as far as depth of water and rigger depths. I had the wire fire before I could get a second pole in the water and that was it for that for about 2 hours then it was back to back. The riggers seem to need longer leads 50' seemed to be the ticket there. No fleas except foe on the wire at the dipsey  Out hopefully again this week maybe at night. Fishbandit heard you on the radio taken some brownies on every pass How'd you end up doin?
  17. Thanks Brian for leaving those AWESOME FIGHTING LAKERS FOR ME   . I am going out Saturday (week off with the wife has me all confused as to what day it is ) I'll post afterwards.
  18. I hate those "Dennis Conner" wanna be guys as much as the next guy if not more, but it's not always just the sail boats  :!: When I was out a couple of weeks ago I had a regular old pleasure boat come cruisin by me within 75yds of us while we were fighting a king. I screamed, yelled and waved all sorts of things at this jerk and he just went right on by never turning one inch. He wasn't going top speed but was cruisin at like 25mph. These guys just don't care or understand  :x
  19. Brian only 1 laker  :? . Nice job :!: I am gonna get out tomorrow at Sandy I hope.
  20. I had the paint come right off a NKDL after just a few fish. I think the R&R paints seem hold up well.
  21. I GOT A DECIMAL POINT, I GOT A DECIMAL POINT, I GOT A DECIMAL POINT Jason it ended up being a ground issue. Discovered it by mistake when I put the unit on the metal on the back of my glove compartment it touched the metal plug for the probe cable and it appeared  . Called Duane at Moor and he said to check the ground wire and I found a bad connection where the wire runs along the inside of the boat wall. So it's up and running. JD if I hadn't sunk $$$ into the sub troll over the past couple of years I would have gone for a new unit. Ray shaaaaaad app with your perminent marker idea  . I never go 7 mph
  22. I have a problem with my sub troll as I don't have a decimal point showing up despite having power (checked with a test light) all the way to within 1 inch from where the wire disapears into the back of the unit :? Any help would be great. Moor tested it when I had it up there too  :? :?
  23. Here's a the pictures of my son in-laws first king and my bosses sons first brown trout/anyfish on a boat in Lake Ontario, also the bass he caught on the dock at Sandy while we were launching. [/img] This ones going on his wall [/img]
