  1. I had a spool of 12 I used for leaders, liked it, didn't love it, didn't buy more
  2. Beautiful day for sure, good going!
  3. Justin's site is http://otiscolakeguideservice.com, phone 607-349-1750
  4. I see several LOUers up there, congrats to all! And thanks 58johnson
  5. That is pretty amazing and a great fish! I've seen videos of fish following for a few minutes but that's a long time. Long enough for it to forget what happened, lol.
  6. I dunno Al... given the reports earlier it doesn't sound good, you may want to think about Seneca.
  7. Ha, yeah I'll take "Posts I Kind Of Regret" for $100 please Alex. Sorry goin hungry, I was just trying to contribute, didn't mean anything by it
  8. The fishing must be either really good or really slow! Great sunrise today
  9. Hey that's great, sounds like a good day and fun family trip! Fishing is about the only thing that makes me wish I had kids, lol.
  10. Rain gutter sounds like a decent DIY if you can figure out how to keep the fasteners out of the way, folded over the ends maybe? They do make plastic "bunk glides": https://www.amazon.com/Trailer-Bunk-Glides/dp/B00CXADP02
  11. Nice lake combo, that's fun congrats!
  12. That's tough to deal with, has to be frustrating with the new lift! Hope it starts coming up soon
  13. Sounds like a great morning, beautiful day!
  14. The height of the trailer ball can make a difference, when I switched tow vehicles a few years ago I suddenly had all sorts of problems launching and had to adjust the height of the ball to get things right. For me it was the relation between the bunk height and the front roller. I have a 16' shallow v so probably similar trailer setup. I had to have the bunks low enough I could get the bow onto the roller just by pulling it in.
  15. "Meathunters!" sure reads like it's supposed to be an epithet, though I'm not offended personally. I like eating pike. I'm not ashamed to admit it, and I keep one every couple of years so your stocks are safe from me. " Don't u remember refunding his family musky inc membership after he cried this spring?" Isn't a nice thing to say especially from someone who ate food cooked on Justin's BBQ that day. He objected to scoring sub-legal fish, which is a topic worthy of a respectful debate. There's plenty of objectionable things zach said. And I mistakenly thought the hillbillies comment was his, but it wasn't. Still, the tone is completely uncalled for. Look, I get the passion and trying to promote Esox. But any ambassador for anything needs to understand that they are better informed, have better skills, and their job is to inform and educate, not berate, and especially for something completely legal. Yeah, if everyone was as good as you and kept every fish there would be a problem. But they aren't. You get conservation through education. Not from calling people meathunters when they keep a dying fish. Unless we can have a civil debate I still think this should be locked.
  16. Hey nice brown Pete! That is awesome you're getting into them on purpose. Well done all around getting it done despite boat problems. You can choose to believe there is fish in all that bait even though you can't see them, and there often are, but not always. If you can't get away from it just jig as normal for a while before moving on. Or if you find the edge fish there. And good job starting the early training on the future angler!
  17. x 2. As soon as zach posted his first post I knew where this was going. Not only should this be locked, anyone who picks a fight like this should be banned. Now he's gone off the deep end and calling everyone names. That is not the way to get an opinion heard or respected.
  18. That's a good morning Landshark!
  19. Ha that's funny guys I guess you get what you ask for!
  20. Late but better than never and before the weekend! Out last Saturday with Copperliner (thanks again Mike!) and we had good action in 80-90 from 6:30 - 9 or so. 9:30? I've had this waterproof camera since last fall but haven't played with it much, so this was a good opportunity. We had a few doubles, some active chasing fish and a lot of fun. I broke out my centerpin and fished with that after catching the first one, I've brought it with me several times this year but it's been too windy to use until this trip. Always a blast! Given the cloudy early morning conditions the pics turned out pretty well. More practice is needed for sure. But here's one fish in the net and then being released: And I even did a short video of Mike releasing a fish too, my first YouTube video! I feel all grown up now, maybe someone will give me a gold star.
  21. That's impressive... the last whole Otisco fish I weighed was back in May at 25" and it was 5.6 lbs. So this is only four inches longer but twice as heavy! I like Landshark's idea too
  22. Hmmm well it might be a lack of fish after that... I'm sure it was a popular thing in that case- a couple of years of guys pounding on them like that could have an effect?
  23. keukadude, yes that does happen sometimes! I forgot to mention that. If you do what Tg8 says it helps a lot, but it can still happen- if it is, either allowing the boat to drift slightly or using a gentler jigging motion seems to help, but the best solution is to thread it through the plastic as close as possible to the end of the tail without affecting movement. Envision trying to make the jig float up and down like a sine wave rather than popping pyramids on the FF. That's also why I went with 50 lb powerpro rather than 20 or 30, it's stiffer. But I always had trouble with mono/fluoro being too stiff and with the knots it never worked right for me. I keep thinking I never tried the right knot or setup to get that right. There is probably a way to do it with m/f or a better way in general but after several variations I settled on that. There's also the pre-made stinger trebles which you can bury in the tail to keep in place, spinnerbait trailers, etc.
  24. Huge fish! Wow! That's lakebound88 mentioned as the net man... got any pics?
  25. Very nice, good looking fish!
