  1. How'd you do at Treman yesterday? Lots of traffic there and up at Taughannock.
  2. I'm in. Any date is fine though I'd prefer earlier ones. Myers is closer than Long Point but again either is fine. I'll try and take what I've learned from y'all and make my own showing this year! Mmmmm here fishy fishy!! Thanks Splitshot for stepping up! If you want help with anything let me know. Happy holidays everyone!
  3. Good going guys! Sounds like a lot of fun the past week!
  4. T'nock launch is open and plowed, lake level relatively low.
  5. TD I've never fished with copper but I've learned a fair amount about it just from reading the tackle and techniques forum above. There's a few good copper threads with lots of info. Good luck!
  6. The forecast sounded good but it didn't produce, we had more rain the week before. There are a few good sized fish but the average size is much smaller than the Ontario tribs. Also, if you're used to fishing up North it's a bit different here, nowhere near as many fish run the streams, and the runs seem to be pretty quick, fish in, fish out, timing is everything. At least that's my take, I've only been at this regularly for 3-4 years now. Not trying to be discouraging but that's how it is, every time I go to the Ontario tribs I'm amazed at how many fish I see, they're everywhere.
  7. Well here's the story. I actually knew the first guy who posted. The second guy I sent a decent tip and got no response. To tell you the truth a "thank you" from him would've made me feel better about helping, but how do I know you won't be as rude as he was? But at least you have a sense of humor! Sigh... We need rain. Most of the storms from the past 2 weeks have gone East or North, most of the Finger Lakes haven't received much water. Figure out where it's been raining and there are a few fish around. If it doesn't rain all week I'd guess the weekend won't be too hot. The USGS streamflow site can be quite helpful. Good luck!
  8. What do y'all have to offer?
  9. Stefan, hope all is well, sent you a pm. Alec
  10. Jeesh, I've just got one and she's more than a handful already! That should be enough unless one's a wife, one's a daughter and the other is FISHING... oops evil though coming up... take your three women and go back to Utah!
  11. Haven't been out in about 10 days myself, I went out of town. Overall though I've had a good year and hope to get back out soon, though I hear it can be spotty around now like RR said. Didn't fish the lake much last fall so I can't say to compare. Frisco, some of the traffic has been diverted to another site, probably what you're noticing, there has been good fishing for lakers anyway most of the summer.
  12. Here's the pics:
  13. I'll send a PM with my email address, I'd like to see those pics and can post them here. That's not very good news. My first thought was, maybe they're beating themselves up over the spawn? But you say you saw this in August, too... that would preclude that possibility. It's very possible it's VHS, in my opinion the laker stock in Owasco is under stress and a virus would show in a stressed population before elsewhere.
  14. Chaos and/or Stinger, I'm curious, do you guys ever fish down towards the Southern end? I was offering that as an alternative, as the reports I've heard from up N haven't been hot- not terrible but not hot. I spend time up North in the spring but I'm towards this end of the lake most of the year myself. Looks like cool but good fishing weather this weekend... enjoy!
  15. Hey guys, I've been doing well down in the southern section as well, like Mower but on the West side. Lots of lakers and yesterday I trolled up my third rainbow of the year, I haven't seen many, a nice ~3 lber. The lakers have been 100-130 down for me. The bow was in the neighborhood of 60 and a few browns last week maybe 40 down... have a good weekend all!
  16. Nice brown!! Big fatty!
  17. John, good post. I myself learned a lot from these boards and try to repay what I've learned, I figure it's good karma. I don't post here though mostly b/c I spend most of my time on another board, but I'm around and happy to help whoever. (Sounds like you've fished Cayuga approximately 14 years more than I so maybe not, but hey anyone with a question.) I'm not a troller for deep trout but I have been learning some shallow water light line stuff this year, it's been fun. A lot of the time I'm one of those boats parked in one area jigging for lakers. Last weekend I did well with white jigs down 90-100 feet on the bottom. I fish out of Taughannock 75% of the time. Have fun and good luck out there!
  18. As long as it's not too windy! Haven't been out much recently but I'm going to fish it if the weather cooperates. See you out there!
  19. Good luck everybody!
  20. Stix, I just talked to someone today who said Bear was usually around evenings after 5:30-6:00 (and weekends)... not sure about Friday nights though! Last year was the first year of this derby and it was well-run and a good time, you all should consider it. Another good cause to support in the name of fishing! Or is it more fishing to support in the name of a good cause?
  21. Nice rainbow!
  22. Well team Fishstix had a great time. Had a lot of fun out there, very good to meet everyone / see you all again. Stix, thanks again for taking me out. Eating all six of those bananas gave me a tummyache though. Thanks to Chaos for keeping us in line on the board, Splitshot for bringing Barney and the scales, not to mention the trophy, and everyone who showed up for making it fun. RR dang it stay out of my honeyhole!! Congratulations! Oh and thanks to BPS too.... I ended up with a Rapala Pro Fishing game to play on the days I can't get out. I'll have to thank them next time I go there. (Isn't spending all my money enough?!?) (I made it to the wedding too.... missed the ceremony (darn ) and showed just after because I had to move a few truckloads of walnut. Great wedding, I got to fish a little, picked some bass on poppers out of the nearby pond while folks were dancing. Ended up being a VERY long day, 3 AM to 3 AM. It made Sunday very odd.)
  23. Ray you serious? Sometimes it's hard to tell... anyway 2 weeks ago they were beeping terrible, last week they were all gone... this week I didn't do any trolling so I dunno...
  24. Hmm Bob I was just trying to bring more rods on board, hadn't thought about Ms. Palm... too bad you aren't fishing, the two of you could be bed oops boatmates but would you get any fishing done?!?!?!  No animals were harmed in the making of these jokes... except a few sore lipped fish.
  25. That's why Stix is bringing the DEC on board, to keep up appearances! It's a brilliant tactic. Oh yes, we'll be following the regs to a T. I just made five new friends- I call them Thumb, Index, Middle, Ring and Pinky. They're coming fishing too, so that's an extra 10, yes 10 more rods! Look for us and wave as you go by... Stix's Arima will be sprouting rods like a porcupine, and I' just picked up a bunch of Simpson's cardboard cutouts to keep you rod counters fooled... we're the fishing boy scouts. So prepared I've got a cooler full of fish all ready to weigh! Ahh I mean eat for dinner tonight. Seriously.... good luck everyone!
