An armada pounding the mouth wasn't knocking their socks off either. After the 4 day NW blow the temp is 68 -70 from the top to 120 fow. The impending East wind should cool things down a bit and may turn them on if you can get out the next few days. ====================

Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Big Mike's Tundra ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 7/2 Time on Water: 5 til dark Weather/Temp: 65 sunny Wind Speed/Direction: variable - 10 knots WNW Waves: 1 ft. or less Surface Temp: 65 Location: Near the"Black Hole" off Hedges LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 14 Total Boated: 12 Species Breakdown: Kings, Steelies, Brown Hot Lure: NBK, DW super slims, spinnies & flies Trolling Speed: 3.3 Down Speed: 2.5 Boat Depth: 430- 510 fow Lure Depth: 125 on the riggers ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS A beautiful night on the Big "O" with Big Mike and the Blind Squirrel. We started out in 350 or so and had blanks all the way to 430' when the wire dipsey fired, about 280 out with the spinnie and fly. After about 30 minutes, the squirrel man finally boated a nasty king in the mid 20's. He is a bit out of practice after a long hiatus. We took a few bows 8-10 lbs in the same area, before Ben landed the king ! One on a 6 color and one on a 10 color core. Stinger with dots. Two other flurries produced several more bows on sliders. Later the riggers seemed to light up and the cores and copper went quiet. Big Ben managed a long range release on a brownie and then bagged another king about 7 lbs. Slim spoons in purple/silver & blue/silver & NBK. NE and NW trolls seemed better. We only saw decent bait at 350 & 475, with many fish near the pods. All of the fish were clean and the bows were especially fat and nice. All were deep sixed to fight another day. We never got below 56 on the down temp until we crossed 500fow. The NW blow for 4 days really piled up the warm water in shore. ====================

For Sale: Vintage Fish Hawks – Model 650A & 650-1. Here is a chance for you collectors, or if you have a unit that is missing a part, here is your chance to make a working unit. These are temperature only units. I have the meters (non-digital) and sending units for each. To my knowledge they are in working order. I also have two transducers (50hz), but last time I used the units they were sporadic, so I am unsure if they are working at all. I believe the transducers to be the culprits, but who knows? These are not supported by Fish Hawk Electronics any longer. All reasonable offers will be considered. Caveat emptor.

We blasted west from I-Bay for a change scenery and it was definitely the right move. The silvers were active out deeper this evening in 90-115 fow. Surface temp was 49-50 deg. at all depths. . We were able make all of the set-ups work tonight. We took two kings in the high teens to twenty lbs. on the dipseys. NBK and the habenero 28's on a two setting about 110-135 ft. out. Speed was 2.6-2.9. A NW troll direction seemed to be the best tonight. We took a nice "bow on a 4 color leadcore(the sea lion special) on a copper stinger off the boards. We took several more kings in the low teens. One off the rigger down about 40-50 ft. on a purple and silver NK-28 and the other off the dipsey(another NBK in Green). We did not mark many fish until we ranged out to 105 or deeper. The only set up that did not fire was a deep diver minnow bait off the boards. Nice calm seas and some smoking drags always are a nice way to end the week or start the weekend ! Venture off the beach boys ! We were the only boat out, as apparently everybody else headed to the Niagara Bar ! Stay an extra week up there if you can. We like the solitude ! Get out and catch a big one !

We had the pleasure of assisting Captain Mark B. from Reel Crazy on a shakedown cruise last night. The water was dead calm and extremely clear. We managed two browns off the boards East of Forest Lawn. The biggest was @ 8 lbs. One on a rebel minnow bait and the other on a green/silver 44 size spoon. The hospitality was much appreciated Mark ! This morning on Mike's Tundra we managed one more brown off the boards on a natural rapala J-11 near Webster Park. Fairly slow all the way to nine mile point and back to Hedges. Then the supposed south winds went west and pounded us. Early day back at the dock at about 10:30. On Friday the Sea Lion did very well working a nice mudline east of Hedges. They boated a mixed bag of a dozen and dropped few more all on minnow baits. The clear water in close is dictating an early/late bite for sure. We swung out to 20-25 and worked some diving minnow baits and the riggers, but we got blown off before we could give the program a decent chance. As I look at the lake now we may have another mudline in the AM, as it is really ripping from the NNW. T-storms are on the horizon !

We wanted to look at different sea gulls than those at Forest Lawn and run a different program than charging the beach, so.... we ran from IBAY to the Genny at about 7:00AM. We found a nice temp break(41 to 49) and a good color line off the jettys in 25-30 fow. Almost combat fishing for a while, but then everyone there charged the beach on the East side. We put the boat into auto pilot(me) and did the great counter clockwise circle route. The cookie cutter cohoes were very active. All board bite with chartreuse being hot again..J-9 straight Rapalas, Yozuris and deep divers 130-150 back, speed 2.6-3.1. No bites on the orange stick baits or the riggers. Fish were in the 3-6 lb. range. We managed our first double of the year. We ended up 12 for 12 for a few hours of work. We slid out to 50+ fow to see if any solid break is setting up, but we only saw a gradual drop to 38 from the 49 deg. mark. Looks like the ENE blow is setting up for the next few days, so it will be a new ball game once again when it settles down.

IBAY 4/16 PM
Agentorange replied to Agentorange's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
No. we were East of IBAY all the way to Hedges on the border of Wayne County. We only saw one other boat out in our area as well. Russel Station is West of the Genesee River. -
We got out for a few hours last night and water temp was 52 deg at Oklahoma Beach and dropped to around 48 deg once you got past Forest Lawn. A large change from the 38 deg. water last Sat. We trolled East to Hedges at about 2.6 and the high sun and extremely clear water were not conducive to the best bite. We worked between 10 and 20 fow with no takers. We turned back on a West troll, charged the beach and managed two healthy browns off the boards in 7 fow right at sundown. The larger fish made two nice aerial displays for a new angler we had on board! Nice night with calm conditions and a beautiful sunset. Browns took fire tiger and a chartreuse minnow baits. Once the sun went down the air temp. followed. Wear your long johns for the ride back in ! Remember to take a kid fishing and introduce them to a great resource in our area.

IBAY Friday 4-10
Agentorange replied to Agentorange's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
I have been lurking in other boats Mark but not talking much on the radio. Mine did not go in last year due to some family issues out of town. I was out with my nephew today. Hope to see you off the bay real soon ! -
IBAY Friday 4-10
Agentorange posted a topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
We ran the shoreline from Oklahoma Beach past Hedges under a sunny blue sky and flat conditions. Water temp near the bay was 41 and it slowly decreased to 38 near Hedges. Water color was a nice green and the fish were cooperating. We went 11 for 12 with a nice mixed bag. 2 Atlantics, 3 cohoes, 1 rainbow and the balance brown trout. Biggest fish was a nice clean brownie in the 9 lb range. Some browns had lamprey marks. The rainbow appeared to have recently come out of the stream with high fin wear. 2 fish off the riggers on NK spoons and rest of the otter boats with minnow baits. Chartreuse/green was the color of choice. A few taken on the flour. orange. A mix of Yozuri's and Rapalas. The wind picked up from the ENE and the fishing also picked up on the Westerly troll back. Water was much clearer past Hedges. The deep side boards seemed to be more active. We ran from 8 - 20 fow. A nice start to the season. -
The salmon were active off I-Bay in two distinct zones, 70-85 fow and 110-125 fow over the three day period. The first day we fished in the evening 5-9:00 and the other two in the morning 05:00-10:00. The bite was priimariy a rigger bite with fish taken between 35 and 75 ft. down. No real pattern on colors, but fish were taken on NK habeneros, silver/green combos and some purple/black combos. The wire divers fired early on Friday and went silent until late morning on Sunday. We took several fish in the 20# range, on Spin Doctor/Siggs combos and on a spoons. The larger fish seemed to relate more to the bottom. We marked many fish in the 35-40fow range and caught only two year olds there. We took fish from all four year classes and saw too many lampreys attached to fish to be comfortable! Bait was sporadic and noted mainly between 85 and 100 fow. We had several fish in the 10# range dive over 20 feet on the baits. We did finally manage to take a few fish on the 10 color cores off the boards, but they were far a few. We never ventured past 150 fow, as we had plenty of activity closer to home. The NW to SE troll seemed to be the best, but we did take larger fish on a SW troll when it got rougher. 2.2 to 2.7 on the SubTroll. It was only a salmon bite with no trout in sight. We saw very few boats in the three days, so you can't catch them from your living room guys! Catch a big one next time out.

Looking for a new adventure and sick of pounding the beach, we blazed offshore to see if a temp break was established, as it was last week in 90 fow.(42 - 37/green to clear water) The East wind has stacked the ice water on the beach. We had 47 at the mouth of I-Bay and gradually dropped slowly to 39 deg. at 175 fow. No debris line or significant color change. The strong South wind may have blown the warm layer off to Canada. We made a slow troll from 120 to the mouth of the Genny with no action. The water on the beach was 45-47 deg. when we returned. The previous evening we worked the river water break from 45 - 53 deg. with no action. We did manage to catch a 12 ft blow boat from the Rochester Yacht Club that sawed off our planer board line after taking a 90 deg. turn out of the river East. Correct me if I am wrong, the overtaking craft( sail or power) must yield the right of way to a less maneuverable craft, such as a trolling vessel, even if the vessel being overtaken is under power. I think the commodore at the RYC should compensate us for our Yozuri's !!!! Catch a big one guys ! And hey, you in the twin engine Grady, let's be a bit more courteous next time and give way. I know you wanted to have your butt pasted to the color line, but it is a big lake !

We headed straight out offshore and set up in 425 fow. One knock off after setting only one rod. Nobody home. Temp was 42 deg. down 90. We took a dandy rainbow in the 10-12# range 76 down over 450 fow and another skipper king in the same area. NK green w/black & glow ladders. Nothing on the wire divers or the screen. We took another teenager king in about 280 fow on the same set up, but down 90. We saw more screen activity between 200 and 300 fow on the way in with ample bait and fish interspersed. No particular troll direction seemed to be better. Mike attempted to disrupt the magnetic continuum by placing too many E-Chips in the lake at the same time. Once they were back in the boat the fish became more active ! Ben. Where are you? We were biting this evening.....we were biting this evening.............
