Usually classic rock. My wife likes country. Hopefully this year we'll be to busy fishing to really hear the music.

Just so I'm on the right page with everyone else do you guys twist a loop in your line to attatch to the release or just attatch the line. When I worked as a mate in the early 90's we always ran roemers, and I thought they were really good releases but now it is 2007. I didn't make it out many times last year but the 1 time I put a rigger line in the water (I had old manual rivieras with broken counters.) We caught a nice salmon. Just wondered if you guys twist your line and make a loop , or put the line right into the release. Thank's Mick

One of my favorite recipes for trout or salmon at home is put the fillets in aluminum foil add some white wine (lake niagara) some lemon juice, and a small pat of butter or margarine. After that I thinly slice some onions and lay them over the fillet. Over the onions sprinkle some brown sugar and parseley/paprika. (If you like spicier foods use any hot spice or sauce that you like also.) Wrap the fillets and either bake or grill the foil packets. It's easy and a very good meal. I have had good tasting browns and bad. I think keeping your catch cold and filleting asap is the biggest factor in good fish flavor. Mick

Maybee then some of the captains can now run fly fishing trips for steelies with shrimp imitations like the saltwater guys do for bonefish and tarpon. You would need some reallly long poles to do it like those guys do though. Just trying to make something positive out of all this negative stuff we always hear. Mick

Time to paint some small spoons red.

I work right next to the launch ramps at the Oak.(East side) I've seen quite a lot of launching mishaps. On the other hand I've seen lots of people who do it with ease. It's always good entertainment either way.

Keeping your head up and looking back at land or at the horizon is what I have always done. When I was a mate back in high school I never got sick.(that I can remember). Every time I saw someone looking down (reading ,tying shoes, etc. if they were prone to sea sickness they usually saw the bucket. Just my advice. -Mick

I found some automotive glow spray paint at autozone that says it's supposed to glow for 6-8 hours. The can I bought was blue glow and I don't remember if they had green or other colors but it's called Dupli-Color illuminite. It works best over a white base coat. If I remeber it was a little pricey at around $15 a can and that was over a year ago. Just thought I'd give some input on another option. Was the krylon stuff oil or acrylic based? Thank's Mick

My friend who fishes the St.Lawrence river in the fall for Muskies said all of his rigger hits came off of those weights. I always thought that if you were dragging a skip salmon in your spread it would scare off, or make other fish weary of your lures? All the flashers, dodgers, spinners, are supposed to imitate other interested fish aren't they?

Merry Christmas from my family to everyones. If only I could have gotten trolling spoons in my stocking like my wife and kids are going to get. It's not as bad as my friends mom getting a shotgun for her anniversary present. She still isn't happy about that one.

A public dock would be a great idea. This coming year there is going to be public trasient docking at the Oak next to the launch ramps on the east side.This past fall they(Idon't know if it was state,town,or county)built a second nice wood platform similar to the exsisting one.I heard the floating dock was going to extend 10ft out from shore and extend down to the old fishing/viewing deck there. I only hope it doesn't take up too much room in the channel. You would think the city would do something with the area since they lured bussinesses there and now there is no ferry.Just my thoughts.

Aren't Stingers a little bit lighter than NK's? No matter what color pattern spoon you are running I think it depends more on keeping your spoons running good in the water and not spinning, or just dead in the water. At times the down currents are totally different from what the lure looks like next to the boat. I think that differently weighted spoons work better in certain conditions than others. A little over 3 months and we can be out there again.

My almost 4yr old son went out almost every time we got out last year, which wasn't that many. It was the same thing for us that after a while he gets bored, but it's the same way dock fishing if we aren't catching fish. He did get to help reel in the first fish on my first boat so that made me pretty happy. He was 2 when he caught his first sunny so I hope he will end up with the same affliction as his old man.

Thanks guys. I haven't tried the stuff from jan's or stamina yet. The stuff I bought was supposed to be good enough to use on airplanes ya right. Well off to work.

If anyone can help me find a good gloss topcoat lure epoxy please let me know. I like to custom paint lures, and make some baits in my time off. I recently painted some musky lures and had them tested and they developed white streaks on the bait, even though the epoxy I bought was supposed to be used for many outdoor applications, I obviously need a better product. That's cool I spent the day in Cape Vincent, (and riding to and from), to help a friend of mine pull his boat out for the year. I got to see the river pilot boat board a freighter, and the research boat the seth green. Pretty cool day other than 10 hours in a car. The water up in the marina was really clear compared to the Oak. Even in the tinted water between the marina and the breakwall you could still see bottom. Good road trip.

As everyone else has said good job.Can't wait for spring.
