  1. Way to go Rick, and Craig. Almost every salmon we have caught this past week and today, have been 20-23 lb males, and they are starting to get dark. Almost time to dust the J Plugs off. - Mick
  2. You could also just crimp the wire to a small spro swivel, and tie the mono on the same swivel. That's how I run my slide divers. I believe the smallest spro is 35 lb test, and I haven't had one of those fail yet. I suppose you could do the same thing for a wire to wire connection.
  3. Happy Buffday Ray. Enjoy a frosty root
  4. Good to see ya again, looks like you guys did pretty good. You can only take what mother nature gives you, and do your best to deal with it.
  5. Fishing Boat Time Machine
  6. The Bait was crazy in there this morning Rick, but we couldn't get a rod to move on the inside. We did see some good marks, but they didn't go for it. We did good out as far as the 27 line and a little east, and I was soaking wet when we were done. It's always fun having kids onboard to experience something totally new, and to see the smiles on their faces when they usually catch the biggest fish of their life.
  7. How many feet of water were you in when this happened? We were already set up and trolling at 3:30 this afternoon at about 140 feet of water. I do remember seeing a boat running due north at about that time, but I'm not sure who it was. I'm glad you are ok.
  8. Today was a blowoff day for most boats. Winds are coming hard out of the Northeast, and they are predicting it to lay down later, but still be out of the East. The wind is definately going to push a bunch of cold water inshore, and possibly flip it. Could be running way out tommorrow to find fish.
  9. Way to go guys. it sure was a good weekend out there!
  10. Thank's guys, Saturday was just about as good, with less kings, but we made up for it with Steelhead. the Northeast winds did move cold water in the inside, but it didn't flip. Surface temps remained the same, but it was 45 degrees 50 down in the inside water. All of our fish came up high, with our deepest rig to go being a 50 rigger. Our best salmon of the day actually hit a free slider on the 25 rigger!!!!! Seemed like chartruse was the best that day, with a pirate 44 five of diamonds doing most of our fish up high and back about 40 feet. Lets hope it stays as good as it's been out there.
  11. Sure was a good time out there today!!!!!
  12. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:Get Hooked ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): Time on Water:6 hours Weather/Temp:Sunny/Warm Wind Speed/Direction:light and variable, then turned northeast Waves: 1 foot or less Surface Temp: 70's Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 25+ Total Boated:17 Species Breakdown:Kings, Coho's, and Steelhead Hot Lure: Gator Spin Doc / Gator Atomik Fly Trolling Speed: 2.2- 2.8 SOG Down Speed: 1.6-2.4 Boat Depth: 100 Fow- 26.5 Line Lure Depth:40-80 Had the best day on salmon on board my boat so far today. We kept 6 nice kings, three chunky coho's, and a decent steelhead for our clients today. We had 4 guys onboard today, and even though we kept more than a few fish for the table, we also released 7 fish that swam away to get bigger for the coming years. We set up in 100 fow a little west of port, and trolled northwest. It was nice to have a flat calm lake for once, and to be able to pick any trolling direction we wanted. Our best spoons were Stingray, and Pirate Gold and Silver spooks first thing in the morning, off the 120 wire divers, and 50 foot riggers. After our good friend Maniac said he had his gator Spin doc go, on a 140 diver, we parked our gator with an Atomik gator fly down at 60 for the rest of the day on the chute rigger, and that setup found us 4 of our 6 biggest fish of the day. We stayed on the inside waters until the screen changed, then headed out to the 26+ line, and continued a decent bite on Wire divers with spoons out anywhere from 140-180, with the Stinger Stingray Gator, and Tuxedo? taking most of our hits to finish the day. As the Northeast wind came up later in the day, our bite slowed considerably, but our guys had had their fill for the day. Our other spoons that went for us today were NK silver and orange 28's, 42 second gold back NK Mags, and a shiny old silver/chartrusce slammer spoon(probably close to a lemon ice , or yellow Gator). All in all a great day was had by all, and I just hope the Northeast winds don't mess it up for the morning. ( I would post a pic, but you guys don't want to see my clients, with my fish board full of dead Kings - Captain Mike
  13. My family fished with him back in the 80's, and Bernie and his wife were pretty good friends with my Grandparents. I did get the chance to meet him when I was pretty young, and I remember he was pretty famous for some of his tasty fish boils he would have. My Grandparents will be over on the 4th, so I'm sure I will hear a few more stories about the good old days on Lake O on Monday. Rest in peace Bernie
  14. Looks like this Fall I found where to hang my tree stand!!! It was good seing you guys down there that day.

  16. We ripped off the old kitchen, and built a brand new 30x60 foot addition on the building, which included a brand new kitchen, and new bigger bathrooms. We are now working on the building next door which will include outdoor waterfront dining, and a small tiki bar by the water!!! There was never any fire.
  17. Ray that match comment wasn't very funny at all.
  18. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:Get Hooked ============== TRIP OVERVIEW Mark (Skipper19) , and I got out derby fishin this morning out of the Oak. The lake was a mess from yesterday's wind, but we were able to manage 4 fish including the first king aboard my boat for the year!!!! ====================
  19. Great job on the boat project Musky. How about you and Ray join forces, and make some Grilled Florida Lobster Tail, with an Adirondack Perch Rockafeller Spinach and bacon topping, with parmesan, and Romano bread crumbs on top.
  20. Thank's guys. Our kids fought the fish, and Dad netted, while Mom drove. The laker that hit the crome/glow and green dot spin doc , and Atomik frozen frog fly combo was our biggest fish of the Eve, maybee an 8 lb laker, but it made my daughter's day to have that experience to tell her friends about in school today, and my son was happy to have fought 2 fish that trip out, as after he got the brown he asked, can I catch another one? My kids may play video games, but they also love to catch fish!!! That's all I can be thankfull for.
  21. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:Get Hooked ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):4/14 Time on Water:1+1/2 hours Weather/Temp:Pretty good Wind Speed/Direction:Variable, 1 foot or less Waves: Surface Temp: cold Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 4 Total Boated:3 Species Breakdown:1 Brown, and 2 Lakers Hot Lure: none Trolling Speed: 2.2 Down Speed: Boat Depth: Lure Depth: =============== Took my family out for a short evening trip, on what turned out to be a warmer decent evening. we fished the skinny water in front of the breakwall for a pass, and got the first fish of the year on my boat(other than the perch I caught last Sunday), as my son reeled in a fiesty small brown that even took a leap out of the water on a gold/orange stick flatlined 175 down the middle. I ventured out to 70 feet of water and just had to let out the wire diver/Spin Doc/ Atomik fly combos for the first time this year, and ended up with a 7-8 pound laker on that set-up, which my daughter had the pleasure of yanking in. We also boated another 5-6 lb laker off a rigger, and had another hit on the diver rod, which didn't hook up. All in all a great first trip out on the water. A good start to the season ahead. ====================
  22. Not yet on either side, and the gate is still locked on the west side down to the launch. Small boats have been launching at the ramps on the East side. I am impatiently waiting myself!!!!!
  23. The info from the at the oak site says it's about 23 nautical miles to Olcott. 29 to either Wilson, or Rochester, and 40 nautical miles to Youngstown, which is the Niagara River. How long it will take you depends on the wind, and wave conditions.
  24. The ice finally broke out at the Oak also. I couldn't believe the amount of logs, and debris that was floating down river today. The speed of the current made it look like the Niagara. Won't be long now
