I also have run the berts for the last 3 seasons, and they are still going strong. I believe most of the companies tracks are the same, so shop around for the best price.
As long as while you are underway, and you are under power, I think you could make the trip. Go for it Ray. If you don't make it - well more fish for me next year
I seem to recall a post a few years back stating that you would never get a trojan Just kidding. Congrats on the new boat You will definately enjoy the beam!!!!
I have the levelwind, not line counter 50 saltist, and use it for my 10 color leadcore reel with 300 yards of 50 lb power pro as backing. Your reel would easily be a good leadcore, or 300 copper reel. You might even be able to fit 400 feet of copper on there if you put just a little less backing. I love the drag on the saltist. My vote would be a 10-12 color core. You could always add a little weight on the core to get a little deeper.
It does happen Ray but usually just with a (Rod Maintenance) skipper. I did get out fishing today before the winds came up, so it's been a pretty good day. Looking forward to a steak for dinner, and some rest for 6 more days of fishing.
BTW thanks Stinky
I went with Sea Tech when I took my course, and was very happy with the instructors. Be sure to do all of the homework, and studying you can outside of class.
The temp was 70 down 50 in 55 feet of water off of the Oak today from the west winds yesterday. They are calling for northeast switching to east for tommorrow. Looks like the unsettled water will continue for a few days.
Eat , Sleep , and fish is FINE with me for the time being. H -E - double hockey sticks , Fishing is what I have been doing all year so far. Tommorrow looks a little rough out there with the forecast, but I may take the canoe somewhere, and get hooked up with some bass or pike. Rock On and thanks
Glad you guys had a decent trip to the Oak. Fishing was a little tough last week, and the inside was unsettled with the almost upwell. You guys were die hards and made it out before the charters just about every morning. I saw that waterspout trying to form a few times Sat morn, and was glad it didn't touch down . Glad I could help out a little, and it was nice to meet you.
Just wait until the fall LOC. We should put up a poll of how many times the record number of users is going to be broken during that time period this year. Way to go Chad and everyone here on LOU.
A can of black spray paint can fix the color problem for you. It was 70 degrees down 70 last night off Oak Orchard in 100 feet of water, and even though a lot of bait is there it seems you have to sort through a lot of skippy's to find a few better fish. It does sound like you are going a little fast though.
