45 degree stream water is a good indication of rainbow trout prescence. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United They winter over in deep holes and spawn in the spring. Then they move out when the creeks warm up to 45 degrees. -
Do not hold your line over the side of your kayak. They can easily roll you over. Tuna fishermen in Hawaii use kayaks but they are careful to not get rolled into the water. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Lake Erie water from the Niagara River and Welland Canal is warmer and it holds along the shoreline to the Eastward. It does not entice the salmon to hold there. They seek cold water after cold nights and finding the cold water is the answer. The cold water flows deep into the lake below the warmer lake water. In the west coast mountain streams the cold water comes from glacier and snow melts which we do not have here until winter snows fall. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

The law could easily amended to allow broadcasts to include 68 and 72. The Coast Guard does not have to monitor them, just amend their broadcast to allow safety transmission on 68 and 72. No cost to boaters then. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

The USCG does not broadcast warnings on 68 or 72. Reality should hit them over the head someday. FCC rules and regulations are out of date and should be amended to the practices of small boats who operate with single channel radio receivers and monitor only one working channel. Both Lake Erie and Lake Ontario suffer a warm water condition in the North Eastern basins in the late summer due to generally prevailing South West winds where warm surface winds stack up to the Lake bottom and cold water fish end up moving westward seeking their preferred water temperatures. Scotty has been making down riggers for close to a century now. They are fast on setting and retrieving. You will be making a mistake selling yours now. Put it on your boat and see it operate. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

While transit off Olcott NY debris was observed in the water, turned out it was two men. The ship’s crew organized a rescue operation and both men were recovered by a small boat and the US Coast Guard along with the ship’s rescue boat . Rescue drills by the ship’s crew contributed to the action. One survivor was recovered. The local boat should be credited for its assistance. If you someday become involved are you ready? Do you monitor channel 16? Are you prepared to pull someone aboard your boat? Please be ready. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Our heavy four stroke motor allowed water to splash over the transom a few weeks ago. We were drifting at two mph.The water accumulated On the deck , not the bilge area where it could be pumped out. Using plastic buckets and bottles we bailed it out. Turning the boat into the waves and getting underway we got back to port at six mph. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

When fishing boats and sailboats disagree

On shore an emergency vehicle must take action to avoid an accident even with active lights and sirens. Speeding, running red lights and stop signs are not lawful even with lights and sirens when an accident happens. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -

The right of way means nothing if there is an accident . All vessels must take action to avoid an accident. Failure to take action is even worse. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -

Cold nights cool off all streams. Entering the lake, this colder water flows to the deep while warm surface stays warm. Look on the bottom at 100 to 120 foot of water where staging Kings are waiting to enter the stream. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

The state of New York collects millions of dollars in fees from boaters. Registration fees from boats, trailers, gasoline taxes, sales taxes, launch fees, and other deals. It disappears in the Black Hole called Albany . You must contact your Governor, State Senator and Assembly Man. Also your County Supervisors and town leaders to get the ball rolling. Nothing but our money disappears for the past fifty years. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
