A lighter wallet and damage to your lower unit when you strike a hard rock. Aluminum props are softer and do a good job with only a small loss of speed. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

The fastest props are two bladed as used on hydroplanes. The power props have more blades as some have five blades. What do you want? Power or speed? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

The Coast Guard paints the bottoms of their aluminum boats. First an etching primer, then an underwater primer, then an anti fouling paint. No matter what, wash the bottom immediately on haulout before the bottom crap dries out or you will have a dusty mess to clean it. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

We went out yesterday evening for a couple hours before dark. 70 to 65 foot of water off Evangola. One three pound walleye on a harness and a dipsey at 3 setting 135 out. A 24 inch brown took two stick baits on separate dipseys together. A terrific fighter. 8:00 PM headed in as darkness was near. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Starting after high surface temperatures are reached, Lake Erie makes its own weather off shore. The high waves off shore this weekend are an example of this phenomenon. Always look off shore to see if saw toothed waves are out there, near shore conditions change after a mile off shore. Then make your decision and check the weather buoy off Port Colborne for off shore conditions. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Go to your menu and adjust your settings to a lower sensitivity. Adjust your color to 78 per cent.this might help. Have your sensitivity set to show a little dirt on the screen to mark more fish. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

The walleye move to where the thermocline and bottom meet. They can be suspended above it. They may not be too deep as there are areas where low dissolved oxygen levels occur where decaying biological materials are present such as algae that has died off. The eastern basin areas are stacked with prevailing southwest winds that send warm surface waters deep to the bottom and the local fish migrate to preferred water temperatures and dissolved oxygen areas. Although the Walleyes seem to disappear lately, the high wind whitecaps have increased the dissolved oxygen near the surface and the fish may be up there. Try side planers with a color or two of lead core. The screen shows occasional large fish ten foot down. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

We fished Dunkirk today. Headed west to van buren, then deep out past the Purina Tower. Waves were five to six footers. Over one hundred foot had few fish on the screen. Only one rainbow and a sixteen pound laker. Walleyes were taken closer to shore but the waves kept us out deep. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

200 kHz is recommended for high speed use. 50 and near frequency units for slow trolling speeds. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I welded the inner race bearing to the axle with an anaerobic sealer that is available at auto parts store. It worked forever and it could be removed with a heat torch to soften the compound. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
